Here are 3 big things you need to know—
One — The Army veteran who drove a pickup truck into a crowd in New Orleans acted alone. That’s the latest update from the FBI, reversing a previous statement. The FBI also revealed that the driver, an American citizen from Texas, posted five videos on his Facebook account in the hours before the attack in which he proclaimed his support for ISIS and previewed his violent intent.
Two —- Michigan’s minimum wage is now up to ten-dollars-56-cents an hour. The wage will rise again to 12-dollars-48-cents on February 21st. Tipped workers minimum wage is up eight-cents an hour to four-dollars-one-cent and will go up to five-99 in February if the current law is unchanged. Republicans in the state House say they will push to protect the lower tipped wage when they get to work next week.
And number three — The U.S. House is set to vote for a new speaker today. It comes as some Republicans believe current Speaker Mike Johnson could struggle to find the votes needed to remain in the role. Johnson does have the full support of President-elect Trump.
