Scot Bertram, Deadly E. coli outbreak linked to organic carrots affecting 18 states

—Here are 3 big things you need to know—

One — House Speaker Mike Johnson is defending President-elect Trump’s controversial cabinet nominations.  In an interview on CNN’s “State of the Union,” Johnson said Trump’s picks will disrupt the status quo by design.  He said the agencies they’ll be heading need reform and the American people know that.

Two —-  It’s more expensive to fill the gas tank in Michigan compared to last Monday.  Triple-A Michigan says the average price is up by nine-cents a gallon to three-dollars-13-cents, but the price is still 21-cents less than last month.  Michigan’s most expensive gas is in Jackson at three-dollars-19-cents, while Traverse City has the most affordable gas at exactly three-dollars a gallon.

And number three — A deadly E. coli outbreak linked to organic carrots is affecting 18 states.  The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Sunday one death and 15 hospitalizations have been reported among the 39 confirmed cases nationwide.  Several brands of bagged organic baby and whole carrots have been recalled by Grimmway Farms.
