When it comes to potential 2028 Democratic presidential contenders, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer is apparently the “meh” candidate of the century. According to a recent Echelon Insights poll, Whitmer eked out a paltry 3% of support from her own party – less than The Squad’s own Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Yes, the same AOC who thinks the Green New Deal will solve inflation.

Meanwhile, Kamala Harris, fresh off her crushing 2024 loss to Donald Trump, still leads the pack at 41%, because Democrats apparently have no one else to support.

True Gretch, false hope.

Whitmer’s grand strategy to boost her profile – writing a book no one asked for, pandering to Gen Z on TikTok, and being Harris’ campaign co-chair – hasn’t exactly set her apart from the crowd.

Kamala: queen of the lost cause.

Despite Kamala’s track record of cringe-worthy gaffes and a 2024 campaign performance that could generously be called catastrophic, Harris still reigns supreme among Democrats. No one else, including Big Gretch, has taken over the top spot yet as the leader of the party.

Michigan’s Democratic Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson gushed that Whitmer has the “grit and grace” to lead the nation, but if her popularity is any indication, Democrats are too busy crowning Kamala to notice.

The Democratic dumpster fire.

With Gavin Newsom lurking in the wings (8%) and Pete Buttigieg (6%) holding steady as the party’s professional nice guy, Whitmer is clearly stuck in the Democratic middle-child syndrome. The only thing sadder than her 3% polling is the fact that Harris, after losing to Trump, still has more than 40% of the party faithful ready to rally behind her.

Other candidates, all sitting at 7% or less, include Josh Shapiro, Tim Walz, AOC, Cory Booker, John Fetterman and many others.

If this is the bench for 2028, Republicans should be thrilled.
