Michigan boasts 500,000 more registered voters than eligible voting residents. It’s a number that even Mary Poppins couldn’t magic up and it makes the state among the country’s most inflated.

But no worries, say state officials, it’s not a big deal. The Great Lakes State is riding a tidal wave of voter registrations, thanks to a 2018 law that auto-registers people when they renew a driver’s license – unless they say, “No thanks.”

Lawsuits, lawsuits everywhere, and not a fraud to see.

The Republican National Committee (RNC) has been banging on the courtroom doors, demanding Michigan clean up its bloated voter rolls. They claim it’s an open invitation for fraud but Democratic Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson’s team calls it just another attempt to create election skepticism. MISINFORMATION, they cry!!! Just mentioning “fraud” these days causes more distress to the Dems than actually preventing it.

We’ll trim the rolls – just give us a few years… or decades.

According to Bridge Michigan, the state aims to scrub about 600,000 inactive voters from its rolls by 2027. Yes, you heard that right: three more years of phantom voters hanging around like an ex who won’t give back your favorite sweater. The clerks have a lot on their plate, but apparently, voter maintenance isn’t exactly the main course.
