Michigan Democratic Governor Gretchen Whitmer is once again behind the wheel, and this time she’s steering illegal aliens right into driver’s license offices. As if Michigan’s roads weren’t bumpy enough, the Drive SAFE legislation appears to be on the fast track to becoming a top legislative priority.

What is Drive SAFE?

The legislation is all about granting driver’s licenses to “undocumented” immigrants – licenses to about 55,00 new drivers who aren’t in the country or the state legally. “SAFE” stands for Safety, Access, Fairness, and Efficiency. Yes, really.

Welcome to Whitmerland.

According to Planet Detroit, in an interview with EL CENTRAL, a bilingual newspaper, based in Southwest Detroit, Gov. Whitmer say that supporting the immigrant community is very “essential” to the future. And in the world according to Whitmer, nothing says “essential” like giving driver’s licenses to folks who’ve strolled into the country – and the state – without bothering to get any legal paperwork done.

So like every other Democrat in the USA, Whitmer wants to roll out the welcome mat, car keys in hand, for people who aren’t paying into the system but can sure benefit from it.

What’s next? A “Welcome to Michigan” car wash package? Free college education and health care? Voting rights? Ah yes… the Holy Grail for the Democrats – and the reason behind them ushering in as many illegal aliens into the country as they possibly can.

Priorities.

Rep. William Bruck (R-Erie) doesn’t think Michigander taxpayer money should be used for illegal aliens, saying, “This isn’t about politics; it’s about responsible governance. Taxpayer dollars should be used to benefit legal residents of our state, not those who have entered the country unlawfully.”

He’s a little too late for that though. Whitmer already approved $1 million in July to cover legal service for “asylum seekers.” And that’s only part of the money that been given to illegal aliens during the Whitmer administration’s tyrannical rule of our state. Other spending includes “newcomer integration” and “newcomer rental subsidies.” They’re not “illegal” to the Dems – they are newcomers.

I don’t know about you, but after a 12-hour workday, nothing brings a smile to my face quite like knowing my taxpayer dollars are hard at work – supporting illegal aliens. Meanwhile, 41% of Michigan residents are barely scraping by, living paycheck to paycheck.
