In an ordinary world, slipping a hardworking mother-of-three a crisp $100 bill to help with skyrocketing grocery prices (that the Biden-Harris administration has caused) might be seen as a kind act.
But if you’re former President Donald J. Trump, it becomes yet another “outrageous scandal” worthy of the guillotine. That’s right – Trump did the unthinkable at a Pennsylvania grocery store: he paid for someone’s food. And now, there are calls for his head (or at least his freedom).
The crime of…charity?
While Trump fished out a Benjamin and brought down a woman’s grocery bill, apparently, the real outrage here wasn’t inflation or the fact that the woman (who is related to the owner of the store) now has less stress about feeding her family. No, social media exploded with legal experts (lawyers on X) claiming that this innocent gesture is tantamount to bribery.
The leftists say that Trump asked for her vote – which he didn’t – here’s the video to see for yourself. In reality, he said nothing about giving her money to vote for him. Handing her the C-note, he said about her grocery bill “It just went down $100 bucks…We’ll do that for you from the White House” and then he commented on her beautiful kids.
In the bizarro world of leftists, that $100 apparently is more dangerous than, say, actual inflation that makes EVERYONE need a $100 handout every week.
What Kamala and Biden have “handed out.”
Aside from “handing out” free vaccines and a gazillion other stuff to voters with taxpayer money, both Biden and Kamala have given away their own “free” stuff and the Left has never called for them to be thrown in the clink. Old Man Joe has handed out ice cream cones to crowds at campaign stops and press events – and his campaign has even had ice cream socials. I doubt anyone paid for their own ice cream and those are clearly campaign violations, pandering for votes.
Additionally, Kamala has handed out cookies to reporters on Air Force Two (that looked grossly like Kamala herself). And I’m sure there is more. But the leftist media doesn’t care about what the Democrats are up to.
Federal election laws or federal ridiculousness?
With everything that’s wrong in the world, certain corners of the internet (Trump-hating corners) always want to focus on whatever Trump is doing – and fear monger about how it’s going to topple democracy.
Actual experts, though, were quick to point out the absurdity. Hans von Spakovsky – an actual legal expert, not a guy with a degree in social media law – was among the few sane voices reminding the mob that Trump didn’t break any laws. He told the Daily Mail “Trump was obviously making what he considered to be a charitable donation and that in no way implicates any federal laws governing elections.”
Still, the internet remains a tire fire of accusations that the former president committed some unspeakable crime by doing what…tipping?
Where’s the outrage over grocery prices?
So we’ve got insane people (Dems and never-Trumpers) tripping over themselves to call for investigations while the rest of America watches their grocery bills rise astronomically.
But don’t worry, at least we can all rest easy knowing that instead of focusing on bringing down food prices, we can spend time debating whether Orange Man Bad handing someone $100 is a felony or just a publicity stunt.
