Malia Obama, the daughter of former President Barack Obama, was left humiliated this week when comedian Pete Holmes told her and her friends to “shut the f*** up” after they whispered during his standup comedy show.

Daily Mail reported that during an interview with late night television host Conan O’Brien, Holmes said that Malia was in the front row during his recent show at the Comedy Studio in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He explained that Malia and her friends had been whispering to one another and giggling during the previous acts before he took the stage.

“Sometimes I do shows and I don’t know that there’s someone of note in the audience,” Holmes said. “There were these two hot women, young women, in the front that the whole show were whispering.”

“Like it’s worse than heckling,” he continued. “What a Black Mirror nightmare to be doing stand up, and there’s two attractive girls – which is what made every nerd into a comedian – in the front row whispering and laughing at people on the stage, but in a bad way.”

Holmes went on to say that he refused to tolerate their bad behavior.

“And then I go on last, and I tell a joke, and they’re whispering and laughing and giggling, and I’m just like, ‘What’s going on? I can see you.”’ Holmes said. “They were in the front row. They were in the light. Like the spotlight was on them as well. And I just go, ‘What’s going on? I can see you, please stop.'”

However, the two women ignored him, so Holmes asked them again to “please cut it out,” and when that didn’t work, the situation escalated.

“Then I get a little more like, ‘Shut up. Look at my face. I’m here to help,'” he recalled. “But you know, you push Petey too far. I’m like, ‘Please, shut the f*** up.'”

Holmes proceeded to throw a curtain over the two women.

“And I go, ′I don’t care. Enjoy the show however you want. I just don’t want to see you,’ and I cover them with the curtain,” he said. “I thought this would get a big laugh. Nothing. The whole audience turns on me.”

At the time, Holmes had no idea that one of the women was Malia.

“After the show, I find out it was Obama’s daughter. It was Malia! And her hot friend!” he told O’Brien. “She looked great. Terrible comedy audience. That’s a true story.”

“Who let you put a curtain around President Obama’s daughter?” an incredulous O’Brien asked him. “Why weren’t you shot?”

“I’ve never gotten off stage and been like, ‘Why wasn’t I shot?’ Or at least a little laser beam like you’re trying to entertain a cat on my face,” Holmes replied. “I covered them. I was like, ‘Shut up, shut up, shut up. You should vanish.'”
