Censuring Michigan Democratic Representative and antisemite Rashida Tlaib was only ceremonial. It was like voting on a resolution about donut day or the state bird. It means nothing.
As the antisemite rhetoric continues to grow in America, the Republicans wanted to appear effective at something (they certainly weren’t during Tuesday’s elections) and made everyone vote on Tlaib’s censure. But it was a fruitless exercise.
Rep. Tlaib can still say what she wants on the House floor. She can still be on her committees. Nothing really happened with the censure of her except that politicians had to go on record about what they thought about her recent hateful comments against Israel (as opposed to her previous hateful comments against Israel).

22 of Tlaib’s Democratic colleagues voted in support of her censure along with most of the Republicans in the House after a recent “from the river to the sea” comment she made which is a controversial pro-Hamas chant which many say means the destruction of Israel.
Some of those who voted against her censure pretended to be constitutionalists and defended her freedom of speech – which has included anti-Israel comments and even accusing Biden of supporting Gaza “genocide” with his support of Israel.
Squad member Tlaib, the only Palestinian-American member of Congress, said after the censure vote, “I will not be silenced.”
And she won’t. She is not censored by Facebook or X or YouTube or even the House members. She will continue to make her antisemitic rants. And they will continue to be allowed everywhere she goes – whether in-person or on social media.
