Former VP Mike Pence has suspended his presidential campaign. He made the announcement over the weekend while he was speaking at the Republican Jewish Coalition in Nevada.
He’s the fifth candidate to either suspend his campaign or drop out of the GOP primary. The others are Suarez, Hurd, Johnson and Elder.
I must admit, I was a little surprised. I figured he’d at least stay in until after some voting began. But apparently he’s running out of money, is way low in the polls and didn’t make the cut for the next debate.

Pence told the coalition, “It’s become clear to me: This is not my time. So after much prayer and deliberation, I have decided to suspend my campaign for president effective today…We always knew this would be an uphill battle, but I have no regrets.”
I’ll tell you one person who I don’t think will drop out until the bitter end no matter what and that’s former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie. That’s because his mission isn’t really to win the Republican nomination. His mission is to harass Trump. Even though he’s not doing any better than many of the other Republicans were who dropped out, I don’t think he cares much as long as he can continue to show up on TV to bad-mouth his ex- boss. I also think that him and others have the idea that Trump could actually end up in jail and it might be more of a “last man standing” choice.
As of Saturday, according to FiveThirtyEight, Trump has 56.9% support among Republican voters, DeSantis 14.1%, Haley 8%, Ramaswamy 5.8%, Christie 3.1%, and Scott 2%. Other polls have about the numbers pretty close to that.
