There are a lot of life hacks out there on the internet and good advice to listen to – things that you don’t know about that would make your life easier. So I’m here today to tell you about some of those things.
How NOT to Pay for Additional Condiments
Do you need three packs of sweet & sour sauce for your chicken nuggets but McDonald’s only gives you two free ones? You need to ask for the extra sauce at the “final” window where they hand out the food if you already payed at a previous window. The McDonald’s workers handing you food don’t care if you want more sauce and they’re certainly not going to take the time to ring up the extra sauce and charge you for it.
How to Know What Side of the Car To Fill Up Your Gas Tank
Do you sometimes forget which side of the car you need to pump gas into because you switch cars with your spouse – or you might have a rental car? Well, take a look at your dashboard. There is a “secret” arrow that you probably have never noticed that indicates which side your tank is on and where the gas cap is to fill your car. If you have an older car, you might not have this feature but it should be on the newer cars built in the last 10 years.

McDonald’s French Fry Box Doubles as a Ketchup Holder
Here’s more condiment advice concerning McDonald’s. From hometalk.com, here’s some helpful information…Apparently there’s a hidden feature on your French fry box that most people don’t notice – it’s a bendable flap at the top of the fry box that was put there to act as a ketchup holder. It beats using a napkin that will allow the ketchup to soak through to your car seat – or putting ketchup inside of your fry box which will lead to a nasty mess.
Microwave Snacks That Will Make Your Tummy Smile
Corn on the Cob: Remove husk and silk. Wrap a moist towel around the corn and put it on a microwave-safe plate. Microwave until kernels are tender but crisp. Depending on your microwave, that’s three to five minutes.
Microwave Mug Cooking: Yes, you can cook many things in a microwave in a mug including scrambled eggs, cake, pizza and pancakes. Here’s a link to learn more.
Door Dashing Groceries Can Actually Save You Money
I love Door Dash and often use it to order food. However, a few weeks ago, I used the app to order groceries because I didn’t want to get dressed and was feeling lazy. I made a list as usual and chose my items. It was nice because I knew exactly the amount of money that I was spending and could cut back on items or get different ones. The app also lets you specify whether you want your Dasher to replace an item that’s not in stock with another item, call you if there is a problem or just not get the item altogether. Even with the Dasher tip and fees added, I spent less than usual because if I’m physically in the store, I will grab more stuff than I need – I will buy things on sale and other stuff that I absolutely HAVE to have like Double Stuffed Oreos.
Your Tape Measure Should Have a Slot Hook to Make Measuring Easier
You might not have noticed that your tape measure has a small slot on the end of the tape measure, a hook that can be used to help you measure stuff when you are all by yourself. It’s designed to grab on to the end of a nail or screw so it’s easier to measure flat surfaces when there’s no one around to hold the other end.
Holes in Your Pots and Pans That are “Good” Holes
What are the holes for on the handle of your pan? Yes, it’s so that you can hang them from the wall – but they’re also to hold the utensil that you’re cooking with. According to the Insider, it allows you to slide the handle of the utensil into the hole which will prop it up and allow it to drip over the pot or pan instead of the stove – or instead of having it sit on the counter and make a mess.
Filling a Bucket Easily from Your Kitchen Sink
This one comes from the Family Handyman. If you need to fill up a bucket that won’t fit under your sink’s faucet, bust out a pool noodle. Set the bucket on the floor, slip the pool noodle over the faucet and run it down to the bucket.
How to Get a Fog-Free Bathroom Mirror
Also from Family Handyman, you can prevent your bathroom mirror from fogging up after a hot shower with car wax. Apply a small amount of car wax to the mirror, let it dry, then buff with a soft, dry cloth.
The Ketchup Bottle Trick
This one is pretty well known so you may have heard of it already. Instead of struggling to get ketchup out of the Heinz bottle (no, I don’t eat Hunt’s ketchup – YUCK!!!!), you merely hit the embossed area in the neck where it has the number “57” with a firm tap and the ketchup will come out easy-peasy.
Good Advice From Four Dead People and a Frog
Comedian and actor – George Burns: “Don’t stay in bed unless you can make money in bed. I look to the future because that’s where I’m going to spend the rest of my life. I’d rather be a failure at something I love than a success at something I hate. Too bad that all the people who know how to run the country are busy driving taxicabs and cutting hair.”
Professional baseball player, manager and coach – Yogi Berra: “You can observe a lot by watching. Always go to other people’s funerals, otherwise they won’t come to yours. When you come to a fork in the road, take it. It ain’t over ’til it’s over.”
Minister, activist and leader in the Civil Rights Movement – Martin Luther King Jr.: “The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.”
Singer/songwriter – Jimmy Buffett: “If we didn’t laugh, we would all go insane.”
Kermit the Frog: “Always be yourself. Life’s like a movie – write your own ending.”
