Former US Attorney and past Republican New Jersey Governor Chris Christie is running for president. But, not really.

If a DeSantis or Scott wins he may get a mid-level Cabinet slot like Commerce or UN Ambassador. In reality he has only one mission that he has assigned himself: To disrupt and sink the campaign of Donald Trump.

That’s why, if Trump attends, the debates will be a donnybrook, a grudge match, a stiletto fight in a coast to coast alley. Christie has already embarked on his Captain Willard-like operation. He’s taking no prisoners.

“Look, he’s a juvenile. He’s a baby. Only children talk like that. He never said that about me when he offered me White House Chief of Staff,” Christie told media after Trump hit him with charges of disloyalty and gubernatorial failure.

Trump also, in a typically lowbrow move, went for fat jokes at Christie’s expense by posting on social media a doctored video of Christie’s announcement speech. In it the former governor appeared to have a massive buffet of food in front of him. The video made Christie look as if he was about to chow down. So clever.

“He never said that about me when he offered me Secretary of Homeland Security, twice. Never said that about me when he offered me Secretary of Labor. I wasn’t any of those things then,” Christie said.

“Look, the minute you speak out against him you know what he does? He lashes back out like a child. And if you or I were raising that child, we’d send them to their room, not to the White House,” he added.

And on Trump and the border? “We got a wall that’s about a quarter of the way done,” Christie opined. “And Mexico hasn’t given us one peso, yet. So, you know, Donald Trump in 2016 was a guy who had no record, so he couldn’t be examined in a very specific way. He now said he was going to do that with immigration. And by the way, he had a Congress in the first two years fully controlled by the Republicans — not one change in the immigration laws.”

What of Trump’s legal woes on the documents case? “He is dead wrong. And so he puts up this baloney argument…Well, he doesn’t get to keep intelligence documents. Those are the property of the United States government, not of any particular president.”

The bottom line? “I am convinced if (Trump) goes back to the White House, that the next four years will be all about him settling scores… with everybody who he thinks wasn’t perfectly nice to him,” Christie finished.

Well, he’s a not a fan of the 45th president and he’s not a wuss about saying it either. Christie is a tough as nails previous US Attorney with a target in his sights. When he zeroes in it’s likely to be highly entertaining.
