Hundreds of unruly teenagers flooded downtown Chicago near Millennium Park over the weekend for a “teen trend” event. They ended up smashing car windows, beating a man in a car, standing on top of a CTA bus and dancing, trying to breach the barricades to a park, blaring music, disrupting traffic, fighting, and vandalizing cars, including a $120K Tesla. As if that wasn’t bad enough, two teenage boys, aged 16-years-old and 17-years-old got struck by gunshots. A White woman trying to get into her building was also brutally attacked by a group of Black teenagers.
Some reports even say that there may have been as many as 1,000 teenagers in the crowds participating in the mayhem.
But Chicago’s mayor-elect and progressive Democrat Brandon Johnson doesn’t think that we should demonize the teens who organized the “Teen Takeover” of the Loop.

While Johnson waits in the wings to take power, the city is still under the watchful (and useless) eye of Mayor Lori Lightfoot since Johnson won’t be sworn in until May 15, 2023. Johnson says that this kind of fracas can be solved by working together and giving kids safer spaces.
I think jail is a pretty safe space. For us.
Criminals have to be locked up and have repercussions for their actions – or they will continue being criminals and inspire others to do the same. That means arrests for big crimes AND small crimes.
Johnson said in a statement, “Our city must work together to create spaces for youth to gather safely and responsibly, under adult guidance and supervision, to ensure that every part of our city remains welcome for both residents and visitors.”
Sorry, buddy, but visitors don’t want to come to your city any more than they want to go to places like San Francisco and NYC. Democrats have destroyed these cities with their soft-on-crime and pro- criminal agenda.
Parks and beaches are supposed to be safe spaces for law-abiding residents and visitors but that’s gone out the window now in cities run by Democrats. There are not enough police to protect the innocents when these kinds of things happen and there weren’t enough in Chicago to control the the out-of-control teenage crowds.
A witness at the scene said, “It was a lot of cops here, but they were still outnumbered.”
Current Mayor Lightfoot said about the events, “As I have said before, we as a city cannot and will not allow any of our public spaces to become a platform for criminal conduct.”
Too late for that.
