The ineffective and dangerous mayor of Chicago, who was voted into office in 2019 because of her gender, race and sexual orientation has FINALLY been shown the door after losing her re-election bid.

Over 507K ballots were cast with voters choosing from a field of nine mayoral candidates and it was revealed that current Mayor Lori Lightfoot was NOT one of the top two to make it to the runoff in April.

The Chicago voters have had enough of her and they’ve had enough of living in a crime-ridden city. She’s been such a bad mayor that this election was the first time in over 30 years that the city ditched their sitting mayor.

When Lightfoot was first elected mayor, the USA Today touted her as the “first gay” and “first black female” mayor when she was elected in April of 2019. They said Chicago was the “largest city to elect an African-American woman as its top elected official.”

She won by a whopping 73.7% of the vote. When she won, the articles about her weren’t about what she planned to do for the city or her credentials. The stories were all about her gender, race and sexual orientation.

Even Lightfoot’s acceptance speech was about the same thing when she said, “Out there tonight, a lot of little girls and boys are watching. They are watching us and they are seeing the beginning of something, well, a little bit different. They are seeing a city reborn..”

A city reborn into chaos and crime.

Having never held public office, it was pretty easy to predict she wouldn’t be able to govern a large city effectively. But many didn’t think she could do worse than predecessor and Obama buddy, Mayor Rahm Emanuel – so the voters rolled the dice and chose a candidate based on WHAT she was instead of her background to run the city well.

Diversity was all that the leftist media talked about it and it still is. Every day I receive emails from Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s administration from different departments and almost 50% of them have to do with some kind of DEI (diversity, equity & inclusion) program, grant, committee, report or new hire.

Equality isn’t wanted. Equity is. The Democrats care about diversity over competence, diversity over safety, diversity over everything. You see it every day, all over the country, in both state and local government, even in places that need to stay out of the “race business” and concentrate on keeping us safe – like the police, EMS workers, hospitals, medicine, and the military.

In Chicago, thankfully (and amazingly), in the end, competence finally mattered to the voters. Safety mattered to the voters. Getting rid of the shootings and rampant crime mattered to the voters.

Even the Chicago media finally admitted the truth amid Lightfoot’s massive non-victory. The Chicago Tribune called her loss a “political embarrassment unlike any suffered by a sitting mayor seeking reelection since Jane Byrne…”

Fran Spielman of the Chicago Sun-Times called her loss the “ultimate political humiliation” when she couldn’t even make the runoff.

More than 80% of the Democrats voted for candidates other than her this time around. Lightfoot went from getting 73.7% of the votes in 2019 when she got elected to less than 20% in 2023. What a fall.

But it was a well deserved fall. That’s what happens when you defund the police and get rid of cash bail. Maybe others in America will take heed.

The sad thing is that Chicagoans had to put up with her incompetence for four years.

Besides reining over skyrocketing crime, Lightfoot wasn’t very likable either and she was exposed as being a hypocrite and reported as having a nasty character.

Lightfoot was one of the many Democrats who was exposed as not wearing a mask when everyone else was mandated to during the pandemic when she was recorded maskless during a basketball game in October of 2021. She also got exposed from taking campaign money from a billionaire which many media outlets said led to her scrapping a housing project in the city.

Lightfoot also got caught using public school students to help with her re-election campaign. She was also exposed as being divisive with other city politicians and even called an alderman a “dumb, dumb person of color” and often used swear words in her communications. She was even sued last spring for her crassness during a Zoom meeting with the person claiming he was “defamed by the aggressive condescending comments” of the mayor.

But she’s blaming all of the criticism about her on being because she is black and a woman. She was with Phil Ponce of WTTW in 2001 who said to her, “In recent months, there have been questions raised about your temperament and your reaction to criticism – a (Chicago) Tribune editorial used the term irascible – how much of this do you think might have to do with the fact that you’re a woman and specifically a black woman?’

Lightfoot said, “99 percent of it.” She continued to say, “Look at my predecessors. Did people say that Rich Daly held tea sessions with people that he didn’t disagree on? Ron Emmanuel was a polite guy who was a uniter? No. Woman and people of color are always held to a different standard. I understand that. I’ve known that my whole life.”

Sorry, Lori, the voters in Chicago decided that they don’t care about your stories and your excuses. They care about results. And that’s why they are giving you the boot.

And in the end, after Mayor Lightfoot lost, she still did what Democrats always do – she lied and she spun the truth. She denied the past and her part in Chicago’s failures during her tenure. In her speech of defeat, she said that she put the city on a better path and told everyone that she brought in “light” to the city.

Well, I guess, she’s not totally wrong. She brought a ton of police lights into the city.
