We understand the concept of self-defense. St. Augustine wrote of justifiable wars. We are faced with the quandary on a constant basis. How can we rationalize violence to solve the tragedy of violence? We can, when the answering or preventive violence is righteous.
If one is acting to preserve the physical safety of oneself or others, if one uses violence to deter or stop greater violence then it is morally justifiable, righteous. A case in point is the Rittenhouse situation.
The jury deliberates on this issue as we write this Thursday night. Did Rittenhouse go to Kenosha to hunt leftists or did he save himself from the attacks of those out to kill him? To answer that we need to look at those he shot and the other man he wounded. These shining examples of civic probity are the kind of men the Left has made out to be martyrs and heroes and strangely, victims of a “white supremacist” shooter, though all involved were white.

Given who they were and their backgrounds, and given the spotless background of Kyle Rittenhouse, we need to ask ourselves, as no doubt some jurors are, who is more likely to properly use self-defense and righteous violence in this situation, Rittenhouse or his assailants? These three answer that question.
FNC: “Joseph Rosenbaum, a 36-year-old residing in Kenosha, was the first man who Rittenhouse fatally shot on the evening of Aug. 25, 2020. Rittenhouse testified that he acted in self-defense after Rosenbaum threatened to kill him and tried to grab his gun,
Rosenbaum had pending charges in Wisconsin for alleged domestic abuse and jumping bail at the time of his death. In December 2002, a court in Pima County, Arizona, sentenced him to prison on child molestation charges. He spent just over 14 years in prison.
Anthony Huber chased after Rittenhouse and hit him with a skateboard. Rittenhouse then fatally shot Huber once in the chest. Wisconsin court documents show that Huber was convicted of domestic abuse and disorderly conduct in 2018. He also served a prison stint in 2012 for choking his brother. Gaige Grosskreutz testified at trial that he pointed his handgun at Rittenhouse before being shot, but said it was unintentional.” As if Rittenhouse could divine his intentions while Grosskreutz pointed a gun at him.
These three men were the actual hunters. Like many maniacs of the Left, they were not out that night to uphold any standard of social justice. They were stalking the streets of Kenosha to destroy, to burn, and to kill. Their target of opportunity was a young man whose only crime was to defend himself. It brings to mind the French aphorism, “Cet animal est très méchant, Quand on l’attaque il se défend.” It means: “This animal is very bad; when you attack it, it defends itself.” Quite so. Kyle Rittenhouse is innocent.
