House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) spoke out on Sunday to say that the results of the 2020 election show that “the American people” are “fed up” with the leadership of congressional Democrats. He said this just after the 117th Congress took office.
“Two months ago today, the American people said enough,” McCarthy said. “Enough with politicians who dictate what you can say, where you can eat, and whether you can go to church.”
“Enough with politicians who ignore the stay-at-home lockdowns they impose on the rest of us,” the Republican lawmaker added. “Enough with the arrogance and the hypocrisy. Americans are fed up with it and we Republicans are too.”

Not stopping there, McCarthy added that the embracing of radical ideas, including defunding the police, by some progressive Democrats has opened the door for Republicans to show they had the voters’ best interests in mind.
“As the Party of Lincoln, Republicans understand what it means to carry our constituents’ concerns with us at all times,” McCarthy said. “We are a growing, working-class coalition of proud Americans — more energetic, united, and confident than ever before.”
“We have listened to our constituents,” he continued. “And we made a Commitment to America to restore our way of life, to rebuild the economy, and to renew the American Dream.”
This comes one month after McCarthy called out Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) for her inconsistencies when it comes to House voting.
“Pelosi is fine with House Democrats skipping work if the votes are about legislation, but in January she will demand every Democrat show up—in person—to vote for her for Speaker,” McCarthy said, according to Fox News. “Her message is clear: her power is more important than anything else.”
He also said that this coming year will be the “laziest Congress is modern history” thanks to Pelosi and her fellow Democrats.
“House Democrats have scheduled 101 days of work for next year — a 25% reduction. Let me say it again: 101 working days. For the whole year. Laziest Congress in modern history,” McCarthy tweeted.
