In the lead-up to the presidential election, various radical progressives said that Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden would be easy to sway to the far left, should he win the presidency.
Now that various media outlets have called Biden as the winner of the election, the radically liberal Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) is saying that his alleged win means a victory for “the most progressive economic and racial justice platform of any general election nominee ever.”
In an oped written for the Washington Post, Warren wrote that Biden should ignore the fact that Americans elected a Republican Senate and decreased the Democratic House majority, a clear indication that most people were turned off by the progressive side of the party’s radical ideas.
“We need to deliver [on progressive promises], even as Republican leaders can’t acknowledge the election outcome and plan to grind Congress to a halt,” Warren wrote.
She went on to argue that “there are lots of big changes that a Biden-Harris administration can achieve through executive orders and agency action on day one.”
Things that Warren wants Biden to bypass congress to carry out include:
- Cancel “billions of dollars” in student loan debt
- Bypass patents for companies that have expended millions of dollars in research funds to develop life-saving drugs
- Raise the minimum wage for all federal contractors to $15 an hour
- Establish a “Racial and Ethnic Disparities Task Force” to “review racial disparities in pandemic funding.”
- Declare the the climate crisis a national emergency
The Massachusetts senator and failed presidential candidate concluded her oped by writing, “Even so, we know that Washington insiders and their establishment allies are ready to declare that unity and consensus mean turning over the governing keys to giant corporations and their lobbyists — the exact opposite of what voters want.”
“Instead of allowing insiders to hijack the message sent by voters in both parties, we should listen to those voters and deliver real solutions to the problems we face,” she added.
This just goes to show that Biden will be pressured to go as far left as possible starting on day one of his potential presidency.
