While the rest of America has been doing everything possible to fight against COVID-19, movements like Black Lives Matter and Antifa have gone unchecked, looting and destroying businesses in the name of injustice. Well, it seems that their motivation hasn’t stopped even with Joe Biden winning the presidential election. Most recently, dozens of BLM members vandalized the Portland commissioner’s home. Why exactly, because the committee voted against a measure to defund the Portland Police Bureau…
As the events unfolded on Thursday, Commissioner Dan Ryan decided not to defund the Portland police. The measure would have seen over $18 million put into the city and programs aimed at social change. After the vote, protesters stormed the Commissioner’s house, throwing paint-filled balloons and the always BLM popular – burning flags at the house. After breaking windows and destroying the property, protesters moved toward city hall, chanting “Black Lives Matter” and “F**K you Dan Ryan!”

Attempting to burn the city hall down, the protesters were unsuccessful in their methods but continued to scream and shout their disdain for Dan Ryan and ultimately deemed him a “white supremacist”. This all happened because Dan Ryan was the swing vote, meaning it was his decision if the bill was to pass or not. When the vote was read, the nightmare in Portland started.
After the attacks, Portland’s Mayor Ted Wheeler denounced the movement and their acts of intimidation. He also said, “Last night’s criminal destruction and attack on Commissioner Ryan’s home are reprehensible. Violence, criminal destruction and intimidation are unacceptable and will not be tolerated. Those responsible must be found, investigated and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. I condemn anyone who uses violence to attempt to silence the voices of others.”
It wasn’t just the mayor who is growing tired of the violence that has ruined their once vibrant city as Portland City Commissioner Jo Ann Hardesty also condemned the violence. It should also be noted that Hardesty voted to defund the police but respected the decision that Dan Ryan had to make. She went on to say, “Fighting for systemic change is messy and complicated, but what shouldn’t be complicated is recognizing when lines have been crossed, and that’s what happened last night.”
As the Democrats are poised to take control of the White House, Americans are already preparing for massive riots and protests as BLM and Antifa continue to destroy the very fabric of our society.
