A 20 year-old student from the United Kingdom is speaking out this week to reveal how she made over $58,000 just from making sexy videos of herself whispering.
Lottie Fellows is a student of accounting and finance at the University of Bath in England, and she has garnered more than 170,000 subscribers on YouTube who love watching her videos, which are said to trigger Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response (ASMR). Some fans have said that Fellows’ videos give them a soothing and tingling sensation.
“My mum had heard about [ASMR] on the radio and suggested it to me after I’d been struggling with mental health and sleep,” Fellows said, according to The New York Post. “I remember looking it up on YouTube and initially thinking it was the weirdest and funniest thing. After watching it for a few minutes, I then realized that it was a massively relaxing feeling that I had always experienced but didn’t know exactly what it was. I have been hooked ever since.”

Fellows added that watching the videos “made my head tingle, and I would always feel sleepy.”
When she first started uploading her own videos in 2018, she found them to be cringe, so “knowing others were enjoying [them] was a surprise.”
Fellows begins each of her videos by saying “Hello, my darlings” and she will then role-play characters like big sisters, stylists and medical practitioners.
While many fans find her videos to be “sexy,” Fellows thinks of them as a way for her to help people.
“I can understand why slow whispering or the words ‘role play’ can be misinterpreted as being sexual, and there are some female creators who show a bit of cleavage to get more views,” Fellows said. “It frustrates me because, without giving it a chance, people can easily dismiss ASMR as weird and sexual when actually it seriously helps so many people.”
Though many young people would blow the money that Fellows is making from her videos on frivolous things, she is focused on saving for the future.
“Obviously, the money is also a bonus as it means I don’t have to have a mainstream job,” Fellows explained. “I have bought myself a car, and am saving money for a house deposit.”
