The singer Gwen Stefani turned 51 on Saturday, and to celebrate the occasion, her country music star boyfriend Blake Shelton took to Instagram to pay tribute to his “special lady.”

“It’s a special day for a special lady in my life. Happy birthday @gwenstefani, I’d write a song for you every single day if I could…,” Shelton wrote alongside a photo of himself with Stefani.

This comes after Stefani spent months of quarantine at Shelton’s ranch in Oklahoma along with her three sons Kingston, 14, Zuma, 12, and Apollo, 6. She recently described her time there as “magical” because “we don’t ever have that much solid time together.”

“We did do a lot of fun stuff,” Stefani said. “We did a lot of cooking. I learned how to make sourdough bread like everybody else; it took me like a month to get the starter right. We did so much stuff. We built a garden. We planted zinnias. I mean, we planted thousands of zinnia flowers. It was a lot of stuff that you dream about doing that you never have time to do.”

This comes after a source came forward to claim that Shelton and Stefani were going through a “rough patch” after finally leaving Oklahoma and moving to a mansion in Los Angeles, California.

“They feel suffocated and stressed,” a source told US Weekly. “They’re both stretched to the limit.”

Friends say that much of the stresses on their relationship appear to stem from the new $13.2 million mansion that they just bought in the ritzy Encino neighborhood of Los Angeles, California. After spending months of quarantine in Oklahoma with very little drama, this move has reportedly become a “nightmare” for them.

“Friends say this move has turned into a nightmare,” the source explained. “This is the toughest period they’ve had so far without a doubt.”

However, the insider made sure to add that there is still hope for the couple, who had planned to get married in Los Angeles in the fall.

“They know how to compromise,” the source said, going on to say that they have found ways in the past to “work through any tension and look at the bigger picture.”
