18 year old Althea Berstein claims to have been attacked by 4 white males. Berstein is a biracial woman and her story caught the attention of national media when it was first reported. According to her, the 4 white males attacked her by dousing her with gasoline and lighting her on fire. However, when law enforcement agencies tried to find evidence of this situation, they could not find any to support her claims.
Back in June there was protest in Madison, Wisconsin and Berstein claimed the men yelled racial slurs at her. As she was stopped at a red light, someone sprayed lighter fluid on her before they lit her on fire.
“She said she’s reasonably certain it was four white men who “looked like classic Wisconsin frat boys … Two of them were wearing all black, and then the other two were wearing jeans and a floral shirt,” she said. She said the way they walked made her think they were intoxicated.”
Berstein’s story earned enough national attention that it was reported on Good Morning America:
Since this story made national news, Berstein received a phone call from Megan Markle and Prince Harry and other high profile figures.
However, despite sympathy from elites and a sad tale told by Berstein, it would appear we may have yet another attention-seeking hoax on our hands as Berstein’s case is being closed due to the fact that law enforcement could not find any supporting evidence. Law enforcement officials were not able to find any evidence to back up her story.

According to a 150 page report that included interviews and surveillance from the incident, it came to a conclusion that the attack didn’t even happen like Berstein reported. Her car was not even damaged from the attack, thanks to an arson dog.
Authorities did find burns and lighter fluid on her shirt. She is being treated for her wounds but no charges will be filed against her because there was no evidence found says investigators.
