Just weeks after the Democrats boasted the safety of using mail-in voting for the upcoming election, the Department of Justice is opening a federal investigation after nine 2016 ballots were found in the trash. To make the case more interesting, information released shows that the majority of the ballots thrown away were not only from military service members but were also for President Donald Trump.

The federal investigation into the missing ballots comes after the Board of Elections and District Attorney Stefanie Salavantis uncovered physical evidence of voter fraud in Pennsylvania. In a statement, U.S. Attorney David Freed said, “Since Monday, FBI personnel working together with the Pennsylvania State Police have conducted numerous interviews and recovered and reviewed certain physical evidence. Election officials in Luzerne County have been cooperative. At this point, we can confirm that a small number of military ballots were discarded.”

But what about the votes for President Trump? According to Freed, “Of the nine ballots that were discarded and then recovered, 7 were cast for presidential candidate Donald Trump. Two of the discarded ballots had been resealed inside their appropriate envelopes by Luzerne elections staff prior to recovery by the FBI and the contents of those 2 ballots are unknown.”

The investigation comes just weeks after President Trump criticized mail-in voting. The President called it a rigged system and promised it could be easily manipulated. The Democrats stood by their studies showing that voter fraud was incredibly rare, but here we are.

This is what President Trump had to say about mail-in voting, “Mail ballots are very dangerous for this country because of cheaters. They go collect them. They are fraudulent in many cases. They have to vote. They should have voter ID, by the way.” He even tweeted his disdain for the proposed system of voting.

During a news conference on Thursday, White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany doubled down on Trump’s remarks saying, “The president will accept the result of a free and fair election. He will accept the will of the American people.” She went on to add, “To move the entire country to mass mail-in voting all at once and have an entirely new system, and do that in just a few short months is an untenable and unworkable proposition, and one that is shown to not work well at all.”

While mail-in voting has been used in the past, it is not the primary tool used to cast American’s votes. Without proper study and training, millions of ballots could be mishandled, lost, or even tampered with, allowing for a rigged election.
