One day after the body of former “Glee” actress Naya Rivera was found in Lake Piru in California, an autopsy has already been performed on her, and the results are already in.

Fox News reported that after performing an autopsy on the 33 year-old star, the Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed that her cause of death was drowning, with the manner of death being listed as an accident. Investigators found no sign of foul play or additional injuries on Rivera’s body upon examining it.

“On the morning of July 13, the Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office was notified that the body of a woman believed to be 33-year-old Naya Marie Rivera was recovered from the waters of Lake Piru in Ventura County, California,” a press release written by the medical examiner stated.

“The circumstances and visual characteristics all indicated that the body was that of Naya Rivera and the identity has been confirmed by dental comparison,” it continued. “The body has been X-rayed and a full autopsy has been performed. The autopsy findings are consistent with a drowning and the condition of the body is consistent with the time that she was submerged. No traumatic injuries or disease processes were identified at autopsy.”

The autopsy report went on to add that, “There is no indication from the investigation or examination that drugs or alcohol played a role…but specimens will be submitted for toxicology testing.”

Authorities spent five days searching for Rivera’s body after she went missing last Wednesday afternoon while boating on Lake Piru with her 4 year-old son Josey. Three hours after they rented the boat, Josey was found sleeping on it alone, with his mother nowhere to be found.

After speaking with her young son, police said that they believe Rivera used the last bit of strength that she had to save his life after they went for a swim and things took a turn for the worse.

“We know from speaking with her son that he and Naya swam in the lake together at some point during their journey,” Sheriff Ayub told reporters. “It was during that time that her son described being helped into the boat by Naya – who boosted him onto the deck from behind. He told investigators that he looked back and saw her disappear under the water.”

“She must have mustered enough energy to get her son back on the boat, but not enough to save herself,” he later added.
