If you think you’re seeing a lot more of Democratic Minnesota Governor Tim Walz now than when he was Kamala Harris’s VP pick, you’re not wrong. After voters gave “Tampon Tim [1]” and Kamala Harris’s Woke Warrior ticket a hard pass, Walz is trying to position himself as the leading face of the Democratic resistance to Trump – because apparently, losing quietly just wasn’t enough.
Now he’s everywhere: talk shows, interviews, puff pieces – acting like he’s leading a movement instead of just dodging blame for past failures.
In recent interviews, Tampon Tim laughably says that Democrats need to connect with middle class voters even though he is woefully unable to do so. He is also, not surprisingly, calling on people to “demonize” Elon Musk – which is the cool new thing in progressive circles.
The current spotlight on Walz shows that the secret to becoming a national media darling is not running for Vice President with a losing presidential candidate who was both a laughing stock and insanely incapable of being president. Now that Walz has shed his Kamala baggage, he is soaking up more limelight than a free buffet at a political fundraiser.
Maybe it’s the relief of being passed over for the thankless job of defending Bidenomics and Kamala’s ridiculous interviews with a straight face. One thing’s clear: Walz is having a moment with media attention and all he had to do was not be Kamala Harris’s running mate.
But don’t be fooled by the sudden glow-up…this isn’t a political renaissance, it’s a rerun with better lighting. Walz is the same person with the same crazy ideas. Walz may be basking in the media spotlight now, but it’s only a matter of time before voters remember he’s the guy who couldn’t sell Kamala to the heartland and wasn’t by any means a good addition to the Democratic presidential ticket. So Walz should enjoy the headlines while they last. Fame born from failure has a short shelf life – and Tim is smelling a little stale.
