While American families struggle to pay rent, buy groceries, or access basic healthcare, the Michigan Immigrant Rights Center (MIRC) is rattling the digital tin cup over their inability to provide taxpayer- funded lawyers for illegal aliens, including unaccompanied minors.
According to information out of MIRC in a Detroit News report, this sudden financial hardship stems from the Trump administration’s recent move to halt federal funding for legal aid to migrant children.
Of course, in true performative fashion, MIRC isn’t pushing for immigration reform or border control. Nope – they want your money so they can keep providing free legal services to non-citizens, while actual American citizens face real-life crises in their own communities.
Here’s the bottom line: Americans give to causes that matter personally – whether it’s cancer research, animal rescue, Alzheimer’s, diabetes or giving money to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital to save American children. But now that Democrats can’t force taxpayers to foot the bill for their political pet projects, the truth is clear: most Americans don’t see funding attorneys for illegal aliens as a top priority.
Maybe Americans are more focused on helping homeless veterans, single moms trying to feed their kids, or foster children in need. Or maybe they’re choosing to support friends and family directly instead of donating to nonprofits. Either way, if the MIRC isn’t getting funded, it’s because people don’t want to fund them. Plain and simple.
MIRC is bracing for layoffs, anticipating that they will be unable to fill the $12 million funding hole created by the contract cancellation. And as much as progressives want to gripe about Trump pulling the plug on programs tied to illegal immigration, let’s remember who set this dumpster fire ablaze in the first place: Joe Biden.
