A new poll reveals that more than half of parents want Uncle Sam to tone it down in the classroom. Turns out, the folks who brought us the joy of standardized testing and ridiculous Common Core math may not be everyone’s favorite academic advisors. Who knew?! Um…. That would be ALL OF US.
The survey [1], conducted by Parents Defending Education, shows that 52% of parents would prefer to limit the influence of the Department of Education’s (DOE). Translation: parents are tired of federal bureaucrats telling their schools and kids what to do.
90% of parents surveyed say that focusing on core subject areas, such as math, reading, writing, science and social studies, would improve the quality of public education.
Who knew? Once again, anyone with a brain.
Parents want the basics taught – and definitely DON’T want the leftist DOE “teaching” DEI, critical race theory, gender identity and all of their other woke crap.
77% of parents also support a DOE that allows the states to have more flexibility on how they run their school districts. That is what most people might call COMMON SENSE.
Only about 21% of parents think that K-12 schools are doing a good job addressing and preventing antisemitism. And 72% of parents oppose schools turning to “grading for equity” to address racial disparities in grading (where they eliminate zero as a grade).
A whopping 77% of parents oppose biological males who identify as females to be allowed to use female bathrooms and locker rooms and vice versa – and 75% of parents oppose teachers, counselors, school nurses, classroom aides, coaches or administration withholding information about a child’s gender identity from parents.
While the DOE insists that what they do is all about “guidance,” parents are clearly ready to hand them a report card marked with a big fat “F” for “Federal Overreach.”
