Outgoing President “Dementia” is handing Trump a world in chaos, making the choice for Defense Secretary more crucial than ever. However, Senate Democrats are not taking America’s problems seriously.
When it comes to political theater, the Democrats at Pete Hegseth’s confirmation hearing [1] gave Broadway a run for its money. Rather than focus on pressing issues like China, Russia, Iran, drones, Hamas, Ukraine or cybersecurity, they decided to stage a melodrama about Pete’s ex-wives, beer habits, and his thoughts on women and transgender individuals in combat roles.
Leading the charge against Pete during Tuesday’s Senate Armed Services Committee hearing was Senator Richard Blumenthal, the same guy who’s helped Biden balloon the national debt while pretending inflation was just a phase. Suddenly, there he was channeling his inner penny-pincher, grilling [2] Pete about his supposed “mismanagement” of the veteran non-profits that he was the executive director of.
Hypocrite Blumenthal’s newfound fiscal conservatism is about as believable as a discount sushi sign. Maybe the senator forgot he’s part of the reason American families are struggling to afford groceries and their gas bills. Or perhaps this was just another desperate attempt to distract from the Biden administration’s dumpster fire of a foreign policy, including their disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal.
Instead of questioning Pete on how to counter cyber threats or outmaneuver adversaries, Democrats obsessed over his past statements on women and transgender individuals in combat. Instead of discussing REAL threats posed by foreign adversaries, the Democrats care more about climate change and the equity of allowing people in combat who might not be able to make the grade unless standards are lowered. Pete tried to explain that equity policies with lower standards are dangerous but the Democrats just wanted to come up with sound bites to make him look sexist.
The hypocrite Dems lectured Pete about the importance of integrity and respect for women over and over again while conveniently forgetting their own party’s habit of turning a blind eye to its own scandals (Bill Clinton anyone?) and personal problems.
GOP Senator Markwayne Mullin from Oklahoma was a rock star on Tuesday going after the hypocrite Dems about their own divorces and drinking issues, asking them why they haven’t been sent packing for not being “qualified” for office. Watch for yourself here [3].
Once the dust settles, it’s likely Pete – and the rest of Trump’s Cabinet – will land the jobs that they are nominated for, leaving the Democrats clutching their empty bag of overplayed theatrics. Much like the Brett Kavanaugh hearings, their distasteful antics won’t amount to much in the end, with Trump successfully pushing his nominees through to fix all of the problems that Biden and the Democrats have created over the past four years.
