If there’s one thing Americans can agree on, it’s that kids tell it like it is. During a Toys for Tots toy drive “holiday” event at the White House on Friday, First Lady Jill Biden found herself on the receiving end of a festive fact-check by a kid in attendance.
As Jill smiled and cheerily declared “Happy Holidays!” to the gathered children, one pint-sized patriot wasn’t having it. “Happy Christmas,” the child corrected, with the kind of clarity that only comes from still believing Santa doesn’t skip the naughty list.
In a moment that probably made her communications team cringe, Jill didn’t have much choice other than to agree with him and say, “Happy Christmas, yes.”

While “Happy Holidays” might fly at politically correct cocktail parties, the heart of December beats to the tune of Christmas for most Americans – especially children.
The irony of the situation is rich. The White House was decorated like a Norman Rockwell postcard, complete with towering Christmas trees and enough twinkling lights to make Clark Griswold blush. Yet, somehow, the classic greeting of the season was going to be ignored by the First Lady – until a kid called her to the carpet.
Newsflash Democrats: this is the kind of thing that helps you lose elections (see November 2024).
