In the latest chapter of “Let’s Defend the Indefensible,” the media site Axios has stepped up to bat for illegal aliens with criminal records, seemingly trying to downplay the crimes that illegals are committing in the United States amid Donald Trump’s promise of mass deportations.
Their hot take? There just aren’t that many undocumented immigrants wanted or convicted for homicide, so maybe we’re all making a big fuss over nothing. Never mind the DUIs, child sex crimes, or a buffet of other offenses – Axios apparently considers those small potatoes with their headline that says, “Immigrants accused of homicide are a tiny fraction of ICE arrests.”
Trump Says ‘Pack Your Bags,’ Axios Says Things Aren’t So Grim
Trump’s plan involves deporting millions of “criminal aliens,” targeting those who have committed violent crimes. Seems reasonable, right? Well, not if you’re Axios. They swooped in with stats to calm us down. Of the more than 425K illegal aliens with criminal convictions in the past 40 years or more, only about 13,100 of them were convicted of homicide and 15,811 convicted of sexual assault. So what are ya’ll worried about???!
Murder and sexual assault: a small price to pay, it seems to the leftists, to be able to get as many Democrat voters into the country as possible.
And who cares about tracking down those 425K+ criminal illegal aliens so that they can be adios-ed from the country? Certainly not Axios.
It’s just Child Sexual Assault – What’s the Big Deal?
Did Axios do a deep dive on all of the child sexual assaults that illegal aliens are committing? Because there are plenty. Just do a Google search.
What about the rampant sex trafficking tied to the border crisis and the thousands of missing unaccompanied children who entered the United States? Apparently, those stories don’t make the cut at Axios. The media outlet is too busy running interference for illegal aliens to spare a thought for exploited, abused, and even dead children.
If you want to read about what’s REALLY going on at the border – and in the United States – because of the illegal immigration, you’ll have to read about it somewhere else – like Border Hawk News which keeps track of what’s going on as a result of Biden-Harris open border.
DUIs? Apparently Not a Problem.
DUIs (15%), according to Axios, only account for 15% of immigration-related offenses, inferring that the poor drunk lads (and lad-ettes) shouldn’t be targeted for deportation because they aren’t murderers. Or are they? This one certainly is. And this one. And there are lots more. But Axios doesn’t care.
What’s a DUI but a little oopsie on the road? Surely, no one gets hurt from that, right? Oh wait, except for the tens of thousands of Americans killed annually by drunk drivers.
Homicide vs. Other Horrors: Axios Plays Crime Olympics.
By focusing on the “small” number of homicide suspects (which they really can’t confirm), Axios ignores the bigger picture. It’s not just about murder – it’s about the total disregard for laws and the safety of American citizens – including children. Even one assault is too many.
Why draw the line at homicide when crimes like child exploitation, drug trafficking, and domestic abuse are just as devastating to communities? But Axios seems to think we can overlook those, as long as the body count isn’t too high.
Trump’s approach might not be perfect, but one thing is clear: brushing off criminal behavior as “not that bad” is a dangerous game. Maybe Axios should try reporting on the victims of these so-called “minor” crimes. Spoiler alert: They won’t.
