With Matt Gaetz Out of the Spotlight, the Left Has Their Obsessive Sights Set on Pete Hegseth

Now that Matt Gaetz has withdrawn his name for consideration to be Attorney General, the left has wasted no time pivoting to their next target for destruction: Pete Hegseth. Despite never being charged with a crime, the decorated combat veteran and Trump’s pick for Secretary of Defense has found himself in the crosshairs of every Democratic operative with a keyboard and an agenda.

And why wouldn’t Hegseth be the next target? Hegseth has the trifecta that keeps progressives up at night: military hero, Ivy League graduate, and staunch America First advocate. Add in his track record of supporting veterans and dismantling woke Pentagon policies, and you’ve got a nominee who terrifies the opposition.

Police report goes viral on X.

The left seems to think that digging up a 2017 police report – on an alleged sexual assault in California where no charges were filed against Hegseth – will be his undoing. And it’s actually just the opposite. The redacted police report can be read here:

And here are just a few responses to the police report here:

Hegseth has denied any wrongdoing – but just like many celebrity men and politicians during the “Me Too” movement, Hegseth reached a financial settlement with his accuser which included a nondisclosure agreement. Doing that is damning, according to the left.

Allegations are facts to the left if they have to do with Republicans.

From Matt to Pete.

The left’s fixation on Hegseth isn’t surprising. If you can’t beat Trump, you attack the people around him. They’ve been going after Hegseth since he was nominated but now that Matt is gone, they can fixate solely on Pete with all of their vitriol. If they take him down, Kennedy is next.

Senators support Pete.

While the media scrambles to paint Hegseth as unfit, Republican senators have made it clear they’re standing behind him. Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) called him “perfect,” emphasizing his two Bronze Stars and decades of service. Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) praised him as a “warrior” and a “qualified nominee,” while Sen. Rick Scott (R-FL) highlighted his commitment to strengthening America’s military.

Even Speaker Mike Johnson weighed in, calling Hegseth “reform-minded” and ready to tackle the Pentagon’s issues.

The message from Capitol Hill is loud and clear: the GOP has Hegseth’s back, media noise be damned.

It’s not really about Pete, it’s about blocking MAGA.

At its core, this frenzy isn’t really about Pete Hegseth. It’s about undermining Trump’s agenda by attacking his cabinet picks. Hegseth represents a return to hard power, discipline, and unapologetic patriotism – three things that send chills down progressive spines.

The Democrats’ strategy is as transparent as it is tired: find a nominee, dig up an old controversy (charges optional), and hope the noise drowns out their lack of a compelling counterargument. Unfortunately for them, Pete Hegseth has weathered worse storms, and I don’t see him backing down.
