In a move that had jaws hitting the floor faster than Joe Biden can forget where he is, the president has awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom to Cecile Richards, the former head of Planned Parenthood.
Yes, you read that right – the nation’s highest civilian honor just went to someone whose organization is synonymous with abortion on demand.
While the White House praised Richards for her commitment to women’s reproductive rights, critics are pointing out the glaring elephant in the room – or rather, the millions of lives lost to Planned Parenthood’s abortion services. But hey, in Biden’s world, it seems “freedom” includes the freedom to terminate a heartbeat.
Planned Parenthood’s legacy: the deaths of babies.
Planned Parenthood often markets itself as a champion of women’s health, but let’s not sugarcoat the stats. According to its own reports, abortions consistently account for a significant portion of its services. Sure, they also hand out birth control and pamphlets, but calling it a “healthcare provider” is like calling a butcher a vegetarian because they sell salad on the side.
Freedom for whom? Certainly not the unborn.
Biden’s gesture might have been intended to highlight Richard’s contributions to society, but for millions of Americans, it was a slap in the face. Pro-life advocates have decried the decision as tone-deaf, with Catholic leaders particularly aghast.
Lila Rose, president of Live Action, says, “She (Richards) belongs in jail. Not in the White House receiving the Presidential Medal of Freedom.”
