Do you know who your president is? I will ask you that question every day because Joe Biden is being hidden by his team and the compliant national news media is going right along with it.
I like looking at polls and I know a lot of you don’t like or trust them but they can be helpful to build an idea of what direction the country is going. But because Covid is not here to power unlimited numbers of mass mail-in ballots this time around it seems to me that we should take a closer look.
So, hang with me here because we have all been being told that Kamala Harris is surging in the polls and people like Nate Silver are now predicting that Harris is on the path to victory. Over at the Drudge Report, they are putting out headlines about how the Trump camp is in panic mode and I think a few of you are taking that to heart.
Right now, Kamala has a five or six point advantage in the betting odds average, but you probably don’t remember that Hillary Clinton held a huge advantage in 2016 and the betting markets said her chance of winning was almost 85%. As I recall, we never did have a President Hillary Clinton, so maybe relax a minute and turn to a guy who I think gives indigestion to Democrats while giving sanity to the rest of us.
They can do bong rips at Rolling Stone and Mother Jones and declare Kamala Harris the greatest candidate since Abe Lincoln but they could be out over the skis a bit too far right now.
Harry Enten is a fairly new face over on CNN. He is a young guy who seems to be pretty good at breaking down all the latest numbers—and before Kamala starts measuring for curtains, she may want to relax, hit the bong, and listen. It turns out that Trump is more popular now than at this point in both 2016 and 2020. Another important factor is that Democrats are not more likely to vote now than in May.
As I have told you over and over again, Donald Trump has always outperformed the polls and there is no reason to believe that won’t happen again.
In fact, I suggest that if the former President can stick to what is hurting Americans right now—the economy, inflation, cost of living, etc.—he will have a second term.
And Enten showed another shocking poll. If you listen to all the babbling talking heads on MSNBC, ABC, and CNN, you would think that Kamala Harris is doing a tour as popular as Taylor Swift and that young and old, black and white, rich and poor are all flocking to her. Sorry Democrats, the numbers are not bearing that out—in fact if there is a red flag for Democrats ready to pop the champagne. And this is the aforementioned lack of motivation to vote.
Oh, sorry about that, lefties—did you just choke on your oatmeal?
But let me share one more juicy little morsel from the CNN breakdown.
The guy they have spent so much time and energy hating on since the summer of 2015 has been building in popularity and headed into the last 80 days is in a better position in that category than ever before. Here are the important facts:
1. Trump was farther behind in the last two elections and outperformed the polls—and if the election were held today he would win.
2. Democrats are no more likely to vote for Kamala Harris today than they were for Joe Biden back in May.
3. Donald Trump is more popular today than he was at the same time in 2016 and 2020.
I would not be taking a victory lap in Chicago.
I talked to one station executive in one medium market here who told me the Trump campaign just dropped $1 million just for August and the MAGA PAC also dropped $1 million. If you think the Trump campaign isn’t in the game, you may be a bit surprised because they are making big media buys in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania.
And there are some other things that have become a drag on the Harris campaign.
Things like her own words for example. This is why you do not see her sitting down with anyone—even friendly media outlets—because they know she will self-destruct right there.
I agree with Donald Trump—Kamala is not up to the job.
