In an astonishing twist of political irony, Michigan Democratic Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson is launching an investigation into billionaire Elon Musk’s America PAC. Apparently, Benson has suddenly developed a deep concern for how voter information is being used.
Never mind that her office has repeatedly been accused of mishandling voter data and manipulating election rules to benefit her party, including having more registered voters in Michigan than individuals of voting age. She has also resisted efforts to clean up voter rolls to get rid of individuals and others not qualified to vote. Yes, she has opposed every measure that would ensure voter integrity in our state, making it easier for Democrats to cheat their way to victory – all under the guise of “protecting democracy” of course.
And let’s forget about all of the voting task forces and town halls and community gatherings and programs and voting advice she’s set up all over the place to try to get more Democrats to the polls – including getting some unlawful help from the SBA to register as many Democrat voters as they can.
Yeah, it’s okay if a Democrat uses their power (governmental power) to manipulate election results by any means necessary, but if a Trump supporter uses their money or influence to get more votes for Trump or the Republicans… then it’s WHOA, NELLY!!! Slow down, big horse!
Elon Musk’s PAC in the crosshairs.
Because the Democrats can’t give their vendetta against Trump a rest, Elon Musk’s America PAC is now under scrutiny for allegedly misleading voters and mishandling their personal data.
A representative from Benson’s office has said that they are very very concerned about how personal information is being used and if Elon’s PAC activities violate any state laws, he’s going to get a smack on the rear end, will have to go to bed without dinner and Benson will sic AG Nessel on him.
This move comes as Benson and her Democratic allies, including Attorney General Dana Nessel, seem desperate to divert attention from their own questionable practices. I guess pointing fingers at a high-profile billionaire can make everyone forget about the skeletons in their own closets.
There are also calls (of course) for the very unbiased U.S. Dept. of Injustice to launch an investigation into the matter.
The pot calls the kettle black – Benson’s shady history with voter data.
Benson’s newfound zeal for protecting voter data would be laughable if it weren’t so blatantly hypocritical. This is the same Secretary of State who has been accused of ignoring inaccuracies in voter rolls and pushing for absentee ballot procedures that were later deemed unconstitutional. But sure, let’s all focus on Musk’s supposed misdeeds while giving Benson a free pass on her own transgressions.
Democracy’s gatekeeper or misinformation mogul? Benson’s dubious double standards.
Benson’s office claims to fight against voting misinformation, yet her own history tells a different story. From dubious ties to Vote411, a platform accused of data harvesting, to controversial decisions on voter validation, her track record is far from spotless. So, while she parades around as a champion of electoral integrity, her actions suggest she’s clearly more interested in political theatrics and securing Democratic votes than genuine reform.
Benson’s selective outrage – theatrics over real issues.
In the grand tradition of “do as I say, not as I do,” Benson continues to wield her power selectively, targeting opponents while turning a blind eye to her own party’s manipulations. If only her dedication to transparency extended to her own office’s operations. But she obviously doesn’t have a mirror anywhere close by.
The real agenda – distract, deflect, and deceive.
By going after Musk’s PAC, Benson aims to distract from her own failings and deflect criticism. As Michigan voters are subjected to yet another round of political grandstanding, the real issues – like actual voter interference and data mishandling by Benson’s office – remain conveniently sidelined.
In the end, Benson’s crusade against Musk’s America PAC is nothing more than a smokescreen. It’s a desperate attempt to shore up her crumbling credibility. Michigan deserves better than this charade, but as long as Benson is calling the shots as our SOS, real transparency and accountability will remain elusive.
Benson is asking for misinformation narks. Let’s help her out.
In the meantime, however, YOU can help her out. She’s asking Michiganders to report misleading or inaccurate information regarding voting or elections and we have plenty of that. Plenty of that from Governor Whitmer, AG Nessel, Benson herself, the Michigan Democratic Party and their friends in the media. You can email Benson here to tell her all about it: misinformation@michigan.gov.
