Kamala’s Debate Dodge Fails: Unable to Duck and Cover with a Cheat Sheet

With the ABC presidential debate set to launch in 13 days, VP Kamala Harris tried to change the rules on Orange Man Bad. Instead of standing toe-to-toe with the America First leader, her team wanted to have a seated debate, complete with opening statements and – wait for it – notes.

That’s right, it looks like the Vice President thought she needed a little extra help remembering her talking points, or maybe she just wanted to avoid getting roasted by Trump’s notorious off-the-cuff style.

You would think that having pro-Democratic moderators on ABC would be enough of an advantage for the cackling VP, but apparently not. Harris needs even more friendly plans to make herself look good.

Hot mics and cold feet.

But Trump’s camp was having none of it. He agreed to certain rules – like the last debate – and he’s sticking to them.

Yes, Trump’s team saw through Kamala’s game and accused her trying to rewrite the rules for a cushier debate format. After all, when you’re struggling to keep up, the solution is to change the game. Democrats are definitely not known for playing by the rules.

Fear and loathing on the debate stage.

Jason Miller, a senior adviser to Trump, didn’t hold back on his response to Kamala’s earlier request to change the rules, saying: “If Kamala Harris isn’t smart enough to repeat the messaging points her handlers want her to memorize, that’s their problem.”

Ouch.

However, Kamala seems to have lost this argument because Trump said, “I have reached an agreement with the Radical Left Democrats for a debate with Comrade Kamala Harris. It will be broadcast live on ABC FAKE NEWS, by far the nastiest and most unfair newscaster in the business, on Tuesday, September 10th, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.”

The agreement [1] is to follow the rules that Trump and President Joe Biden followed during the June 27th CNN debate. Trump said, “The rules will be the same as the last CNN debate, which seemed to work out well for everyone except, perhaps, Crooked Joe Biden. The debate will be ‘stand up,’ and candidates cannot bring notes, or “cheat sheets.” We have also been given assurance by ABC that this will be a “fair and equitable” debate and that neither side will be given the questions in advance (No Donna Brazile!).”
