It’s official. Actress, singer, dancer and businesswoman, Jennifer Lopez, 55, has filed for divorce from 52-year-old actor and filmmaker, Ben Affleck. And she did it on their second wedding anniversary even though they separated at the end of April. BOOM!!

Yes, Hollywood’s golden couple, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez, better known as “Bennifer,” has called it quits, and the collective eye roll from fans can be felt across the globe. After all, we’ve seen this movie before. Like a sequel nobody asked for, Bennifer 2.0 has crashed and burned, proving once again that not all that glitters in Tinseltown is gold.

This is Jen’s fourth marriage and it will be her fourth divorce. Jen and Ben were previously engaged in 2002 but called off the wedding (a smart move). However, they rekindled their romance and got married in 2022.

Although Lopez appears to be a great catch with her talent and beauty, it’s becoming glaringly obvious that she’s probably not the most pleasant person to live with. An “insider” spoke to the Daily Mail and said about her, “’After four failed marriages, her friends feel that she should take a look inside and focus on herself instead of what others want her to be and finally figure out who she is and what she wants from her future.”

Commitment issues: when Hollywood’s glitz can’t glitter over the cracks.

They say the third time’s the charm, but Bennifer didn’t even make it to a third wedding anniversary. Rumors of trouble have been swirling for months, with tabloids hinting at everything from Affleck’s alleged exhaustion from Lopez’s relentless work ethic to Lopez’s rumored frustration over Affleck’s perpetual brooding.

Was it really a surprise when the “perfect couple” couldn’t keep it together? Not really. Neither one of them seems to know the meaning of the word “commitment” no matter who they are playing house with.

From paparazzi darlings to tabloid fodder: the inevitable descent.

At first, it was all roses and red carpets, with Bennifer parading their rekindled love like a couple of teenagers at prom. But the honeymoon phase fizzled out faster than you can say “blockbuster flop.” Their public appearances grew more strained, the PDA less convincing, and before long, the writing was on the wall: Bennifer was on life support, and no amount of A-list glamour could save it.

Fans are now left to speculate on what went wrong – but when you’re juggling two massive egos, a busy film schedule, and the omnipresent pressure of being Hollywood royalty, something’s bound to give.

And give it did. Bennifer 2.0 has now become just another footnote in the saga of Hollywood’s high- profile breakups. For all the sparkle and sizzle they brought to the screen and stage, their real-life script had more plot holes than a bad rom-com. In the end, it seems even the biggest stars can’t escape the gravitational pull of their own drama. No “Hallmark movie” ending for them, it appears.
