The Republican National Committee (RNC), under the leadership of Trump’s daughter-in-law/RNC co-chair Lara Trump, and most likely with the approval of Donald J. Trump, has aligned itself with the former president’s principles and plans for the country, unveiling a new platform for his 2024 run. The focus? Border security and inflation, of course…but they’ve thrown a curveball with an updated stance on abortion, a topic that has been untouched for four decades.
A source told CNN that Trump even wrote some of the platform himself which is not surprising since the platform is in ALL CAPS.
For the forgotten Americans.
According to the RNC’s platform, dedicated to the “forgotten men and women of America,” it is the Republicans and Trump who will restore our economy, restore our southern border, and restore America’s standing in the world.
For those worried about the economy, the platform vows to end inflation and make America affordable again. And Bitcoin enthusiasts will be thrilled as the GOP is all about defending the right to mine Bitcoin and keeping your digital assets away from those pesky government eyes.
In the platform, they discuss the failures of the Biden administration, including living in a country “rocked by raging inflation, open borders, rampant crime, attacks on our children, and global conflict, chaos, and instability.”
They go on to say, “Like the Heroes who built and defended this Nation before us, we will never give up. We will restore our Nation of, by, and for the People. We will Make America Great Again. We will be a nation based on truth, justice, and common Sense.”
A fresh take on abortion.
There’s something else that is getting a lot of attention from conservatives and media outlets in the revised RNC platform – the RNC has decided to tweak its abortion stance.
Post-Roe v. Wade, the RNC is asserting that the 14th Amendment guarantees the right to life, allowing states to pass their own laws. While the GOP has dropped the call for a federal right-to-life law, they still oppose late-term abortions.
So, it’s not the “ban everything” lie that the Democrats are promoting, but instead, more of a “let the states decide” opinion.
In fact, the word “abortion” only appears one time in the platform where it says, “Republicans Will Protect and Defend a Vote of the People, from within the States, on the Issue of Life…We proudly stand for families and Life. We believe that the 14th Amendment to the Constitution of the United States guarantees that no person can be denied Life or Liberty without Due Process, and that the States are, therefore, free to pass Laws protecting those Rights. After 51 years, because of us, that power has been given to the States and to a vote of the People. We will oppose Late Term Abortion, while supporting mothers and policies that advance Prenatal Care, access to Birth Control, and IVF (fertility treatments).”
