In what seems like a plot twist straight out of a dystopian novel, the brain trust in the Democratic stronghold of Denver, Colorado, has cooked up a brilliant plan: defund the police to foot the bill for illegal aliens.
Because, you know, who needs law enforcement when you can have a surplus of foreigners to cater to for future Democrat votes?
City to spend $89.9 million on illegal aliens.
Denver, affectionately known as a “sanctuary city” (translation: a place where common sense goes to die), has proudly declared its intentions to shower $89.9 million on services for illegal migrants, snatching a good chunk of that change from public programs and services.
And guess who gets the short end of the stick? That’s right, the men and women in blue. And the firefighters. And the 911 operators.
Cuts to police, fire and 911 operators are in store.
The city, which has seemingly been in a race with itself to outdo its own insanity, will slash $8.4 million from the police department’s budget.
But wait, it gets better. The fire department will also get a haircut to the tune of $2.5 million as well – because clearly, in the event of a fire, what you really need is fewer firefighters and more illegal aliens.
Democratic Mayor thinks he’s a great person and he’s saving the city.
Lunatic Democratic Mayor Mike Johnston hailed this plan as the savior of Denver, waxing poetic about how it’s the epitome of compassion and fiscal responsibility.
Denver isn’t the only insane place to put illegal aliens ahead of legal taxpaying American citizens though. That list also includes Michigan’s Governor Gretchen Whitmer.
Michigan’s governor spending millions on illegal aliens too.
The governor, along with her Democratic co-horts in the state House and Senate, have ponied up our hard-earned money to subsidize the housing of refugees through their “newcomer” program and have proposed $8 million in the upcoming budget for legal services to “migrants” on top of $738K already announced in February to help illegals “integrate” into Michigan.
This shortsighted approach, echoed by leaders like Mayor Mike Johnston and Governor Gretchen Whitmer, underscores a troubling trend of disregarding the needs of law-abiding citizens. It’s a stark reminder of the extremes some will go to push their agenda, irrespective of the consequences. And it’s a call to action to vote these nut jobs out of power.
