While the media circus was busy hyping up the Trump/Haley feud, we almost missed the undercard skirmishes. In one such showdown, a college kid emerged from the shadows to boot out a GOP stalwart for a North Carolina House seat.
Wyatt is the man for the job.
Meet Wyatt Gable, a junior at East Carolina University, juggling Business Management and Political Science like a seasoned plate-spinner. He’s not just another face in the crowd; he’s also the big cheese at Turning Point USA’s campus chapter.
This guy’s no stranger to controversy, either. He squared off against a scheme to turn every campus loo into a gender-neutral haven.
But why did he throw his hat into the political ring? Blame it on COVID-19. Witnessing governments trampling individual rights like they’re stomping grapes at a winery stirred something in young Wyatt. He decided to roll up his sleeves and give the old guard a run for their money.
Wyatt beats elderly nursing home resident.
And by old guard, I’m talking REALLY OLD. Really really old.
The young lad beat 84-year-old ten-term incumbent George Cleveland for the GOP nomination for the state house.
Ideas for the future.
Wyatt’s got a laundry list of priorities longer than your grandma’s recipe collection. He’s waving the Second Amendment flag high, pushing for more gym time in schools, and demanding a revival of home economics classes. He also has a mission to teach kids that living in the good ol’ U.S.A. is a privilege, not just a happenstance.
Wyatt’s also taking aim at the VA healthcare system, promising an overhaul. And he’s not afraid to wag his finger at Democrats for their spending sprees.
Yes, at the tender age of 21, Wyatt’s got the GOP in his back pocket. Or so he hopes. He squared off against George Cleveland, an octogenarian incumbent who’s been in office longer than most of us have been alive. And Wyatt won. By 95 votes.
Wyatt got 2,461 votes (50.98%) and George Cleveland got 2,366 (49.02%).
Plans to beat the Democrat.
But Wyatt’s not just settling for the GOP nod; he’s eyeing his November competition Democrat Camen Spicer like a hungry wolf eyes a lamb chop. His goal? To win by a landslide.
Some might call Wyatt’s ambitions lofty but stranger things have happened.
Sure, the lefties will keep swiping left on anything that’s not Democrat, hoping to find their political soulmate. But meanwhile, conservatives are waking up to the fact that they’ve been bamboozled one too many times. And we’re all sick and tired of old men running the country (old women too!)
