Ignorance (or faked ignorance) seems to be 83-year-old Dr. Anthony Fauci’s new strategy for defending himself against being held responsible for causing the COVID-19 pandemic.
I guess that’s the next step to take when lies don’t work anymore and you are put in front of government politicians who might actually hold you accountable for your dirty deeds.
So the whole Hillary Clinton precedent of saying “I don’t know” or “I don’t recall” or “I don’t remember” apparently looked like a good option for Fauci when he was questioned by members of Congress.
The old man (and Hillary Clinton devotee [1]) was the director for the the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) during the COVID-19 pandemic. He was the face of the pandemic response in America, giving us idiotic and nonsensical guidelines and suggestions – and dispensing lies to cover his rear end and to appear as if he was actually competent.
According to the Daily Mail [2], Dr. “don’t wear a mask/wear a mask” Fauci evaded more than 100 questions about COVID-19, the lab leak theory and his ties to Wuhan, China during a congressional hearing on Monday.
According to the report on Fauci’s testimony, House Republicans who quizzed the ex-White House advisor said he ‘played semantics’ to avoid conceding that he funded dangerous research in China that has been feared to have started the pandemic.
During his testimony, Fauci admitted to signing off on millions of dollars worth of grants without even reviewing the proposals. So who DID review them? Who knows. The Daily Mail said Fauci “appeared to admit his agency had little oversight of the foreign labs it bankrolled.”
Well, isn’t that lovely.
Fauci was grilled by the House Select Subcommittee on the coronavirus pandemic on Monday for a long seven-hour closed-door session – and had another one on Tuesday. Reports say that during Fauci’s CLOSED-DOOR testimony he denied remembering key details of his coronavirus response “more than 100 times.”
The Daily Mail also reports that the Republicans told them “ he (Fauci) backtracked on his earlier insistence that the US did not fund experiments that could make viruses more transmissible or dangerous, known as ‘gain of function’ research.”
That was something that Kentucky Senator Rand Paul (R) has questioned Fauci about numerous times since the pandemic started. Last summer, Fauci insisted in testimony, when questioned by senators, that his former department “has not ever and does not now fund gain-of-function research in the Wuhan Institute of Virology.”
However, emails obtained from February 2020 show that Fauci acknowledged “scientists in Wuhan University are known to have been working on gain-of-function experiments to determine that
molecular mechanisms associated with bat viruses adapting to human infection, and the outbreak originated in Wuhan.”
Fauci oversaw approving $3 million in NIH grants to the Wuhan Institute of Virology where coronaviruses were tinkered with to make them more infectious to humans. This was months before the pandemic and the project was called “Understanding the Risk of Bat Coronavirus Emergence.”
A former president of EcoHealth Alliance, Dr. Andrew Huff, blew the whistle on the funding, saying he thought that grant funding was linked to the “creation of SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19).”
Republican Congressman Brad Wenstrup of Ohio said about what happened, “Dr Fauci signed off on all domestic and foreign research grants without reviewing the proposals and admitted that he was unaware if NIAID conducted oversight of the laboratories they fund.”
Congressman Wenstrup, who headed up the hearings, said about Fauci’s testimony “Clearly, the American people and the United States government are operating with completely different expectations about the responsibilities of our public health leaders and the accountability of our public health agencies.”
One answer that Fauci DID give during his testimony, according to the New York Post [3], was to ridiculously say that he’s “not convinced” that kids suffered any learning loss due to the pandemic school closures.
THAT is perhaps one of his biggest lies of all.
Not only did kids suffer learning loss, they also suffered emotionally and physically as they were kept away from their friends, were not allowed to participate in sports and other activities – and they didn’t have a safe and trusted school staff person available to report any signs of abuse that they may have been subjected to.
Of course, this isn’t the first time that Fauci said we weren’t damaged by the lockdowns. I reported on this back in August of 2022, when Fauci said to Fox News’ Neil Cavuto about the lockdown, “Well, I don’t think it’s forever irreparably damaged anyone.”
The only question that remains is whether Fauci is delusional or is a habitual liar.
