Hundreds of protesters from the group “Queers for Palestine” recently shut down the Manhattan Bridge in support of the Palestinians. Daily Wire reports that they were calling for a “Free Palestine.” Antisemitic protests (that’s what they are) have appeared all of the country after the mass murder of approximately 1,200 Israelis on October 7th by Hamas. Most of them are demanding a cease fire because Israel is being mean to the folks in Gaza while they attempt to root out Hamas.
At the Manhattan Bridge protest, the clueless Queers for Palestine group waved their trans pride flags and chanted “queer, trans, no peace on stolen land” and the growing favorite of anti-Israel folks, “from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free” which basically means they want all of the Jews between the river to the sea dead.
But what the Queers for Palestine folks don’t seem to understand is that a large amount of the Palestinians want THEM dead.
The ridiculous Queers for Palestine group has been ridiculed on the internet as being comparable to “chickens for KFC” or “minks for fur” – because they are supporting those who, to say the least, don’t have their best interests at heart.
This LGBTQH (H meaning Hamas) crowd should do a little research into the folks who live in Gaza and the area they live in where homosexual sex has been outlawed since 1936 – and where the LGBTQ alphabet folks are targets of violence and persecution.
The Americans in the LGBTQ movement are supporting people who don’t support them – and in fact, hate them. The decapitation of a 25-year-old gay man in Palestinian territory in October of last year comes to mind. His murder was recorded and shared on social media by the suspected killer and went viral. The gay man had sought asylum in Israel and was granted a humanitarian permit. From there, he was working on getting asylum in Canada where he planned to settle. However, he was found murdered in the Palestinian area where he had fled from in the West Bank near his former home. Not only did those around him say that his village had wanted to kill him, so did some of his family members: his brothers, uncles and cousins.
These are the people that Queers for Palestine support.
A conversation with Dr. Sa’ed Atshan, a professor of Anthropology and Peace and Conflict Studies at Swarthmore College, appeared in the media/news company “Them” in November of this year, purporting to address the ludicrousness (my characterization) of queers supporting people who want them dead.
Atshan talks about witnessing a “resurgence of global queer solidarity with Palestinians” due to the “horror of what Israel is doing in Palestine, specifically in Gaza.” and discusses that people in the queer Palestine movement “are connecting with struggles for queer liberation and the Palestinian liberation struggle as inextricably linked and fundamentally connected.”
Atshan excuses the LGBTQ-hating Palestinians by saying that homophobia is not unique to Palestinian society and points to needing to deal with the “broader landscape of the denial of freedom to Palestinians more generally speaking.” He goes on to say that it’s “racist” to argue that
the “struggle against racism that’s directed against Palestinians should somehow be halted or undermined because there’s homophobia within Palestinian society.”
As expected, Atshan did not acknowledge the absurdity of the Queers for Palestine movement and instead pointed to the “horror” of what ISRAEL is doing instead. That, along with the chants of the protesters at the Manhattan Bridge, saying that the “IDF (Israel Defense Forces) is the KKK” shows me what the connection REALLY is between the queers in America and the Palestinians: antisemitism. That’s all it is, plain and simple. Enemies who have a common enemy.
