Democrats love pandering to everyone to show they “care” even though they really don’t. But they think it makes them look good and they can get some votes out of it. So, that political caring started out by wishing everyone a Happy Kwanzaa and then it morphed into wishing Muslims happy times during Obama’s presidential administration. Then, of course, as we all know, the ACTUAL holidays that most Americans celebrate got changed and we were supposed to wish everyone “Happy Holidays” instead of “Merry Christmas” because God forbid (who?) we can’t offend anyone.
Now we have Michigan’s Democratic Governor Gretchen Whitmer wishing everyone a Happy Diwali on the X social media platform.
Gov. Whitmer said on X, “Wishing everyone a Diwali filled with laughter, love, and time spent with loved ones. May the brightness of the holiday extend beyond today, bringing hope and positivity into the year to come. Happy Diwali, Michigan!”
In case you don’t know what Diwali is and I’m pretty sure most of you don’t, it is a Hindu festival of lights symbolizing the spiritual “victory of light over darkness, good over evil and knowledge over ignorance.” To me, that sounds like the same as what Republican electoral victory is, but I digress…
So I Googled what the Indian population is in Michigan and it is about 124K according to a voting fact sheet put out in 2020 about the Asian and Pacific Islander American vote. So Whitmer wants those 124K possible voters to know that Democrats care about them – and their Diwali celebrations.
But what about all of the other days during the year that the governor is missing? What about wishing everyone a Happy Chocolate Day for all of the chocolate lovers in Michigan or a Happy Portugul Day for all of the Portuguese-American voters in Michigan? There is also International Lefthanders Day in August and National Socks Day coming up in December. Surely, there are a LOT more voters who wear socks than who celebrate Diwali to express good wishes to.
Get with the program, Gov. Whitmer. Keep up on the important days for your voters!
