Our great and wonderful Secretary of Transportation, Peter Paul Montgomery Buttigieg, as I have said over and over again [1] in the past, only has two priorities – and neither of them is transportation.
Priority One: The Democratic-supported climate change agenda. Priority Two: Equity
Now it seems that he’s linked the two together so that he can tell everyone that the planet-destroying fossil fuel cars that everyone is driving are also very racist in addition to causing the earth great environmental damage.
Much to everyone’s surprise (although not really), Buttigieg has appointed a group of about two dozen “experts [2]” to advise him on “transportation equity.” It’s called the Advisory Committee on Transportation Equity (ACTE)
According to the U.S. Dept. of Transportation’s press release, “Appointees to the Advisory Committee are drawn from academia, the private sector, and the transportation industry. They include experts in community engagement, transportation planning, design, research, policy, advocacy, and diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA).”
Hm… Looks like, along with the LGBTQ+ crowd, the DEI crowd wants to add some more letters from the alphabet to their cause.
Many of the so-called “experts” already have opinions [3] on cars including GreenLatinos Sustainable Communities Program Director Andrea Marpillero-Colomina who has said, “ALL CARS ARE BAD.” And then there is Houston Public Works Deputy Director/Transportation and Drainage Operations Director, for the City of Houston, Veronica Davis, who has said cars perpetuate “systemic racism” and are a problem in our transportation system.
The committee, which really has no plans to do anything to actually advance any REAL transportation issues in the country, will meet in the fall so that they can come up with “promising practices to institutionalize equity into agency programs, policies, regulations, and activities.”
Petey says about the committee, “We are grateful to the distinguished members of the ACTE, and I look forward to working with them as we continue our efforts to bring better infrastructure – and the jobs and opportunities that come with it – to every community across the country.”
Sounds like a winner to me.
I’m sure that the hard work of the committee will help Petey to clear up the staffing problems at the airports, help truckers deliver their goods more efficiently and safely, keep the ports running smoothly and make sure that the railways are free from any more accidents.
