We’ve recently written about Nikki Haley’s misguided attempt to appeal to the virtually non-existent Republican middle. But she is the soul of pragmatism compared to Bobby Kennedy, Jr.
The nephew of President John Kennedy and the son of Joe McCarthy aide, campaign hatchet man, AG, carpetbagger senator, and leftist presidential candidate Robert Kennedy is running as a Democrat for president while opposing identity politics when it comes to women’s sports. That experiment is high heresy in today’s Dem party.
“I am against people participating in women’s sports who are biologically male,” Kennedy said Saturday on CNN. “I think women have worked too hard to develop women’s sports over the past 30 years. I watched it happen, and I don’t think that’s fair.” By saying this he sides with the Republican House over the vast majority of his own party leadership.
Not only that, but pervy identity politics is at the very core of modern Dem ideology. He is trespassing on the holy of holies, ripping pages out of their twisted testament, actually siding with women and girls over guys pretending to be females. This will not go over well with transgender devotees, get along feminists, and Biden supporters.
Thus, for a guy polling at 19 percent, it’s a gutsy move. But then no one ever said that family was weak. Corrupt and criminal, yes. Basically our Borgias. But wussified, no.
That makes this head to head a contest pitting one Dem crime family, the Bidens, versus the Dem OG crime family, the Kennedys. At first glance the Bidens win big. However, dig a little deeper.
Tucker Carlson had this to say on Kennedy’s stance against vaccine mandates, “But Kennedy was not rewarded for this. He was vilified. He was censored because he dared to criticize their advertisers, the news media called Bobby Kennedy a Nazi, and then they attacked his family, but he kept doing it. He was not intimidated and we were glad he wasn’t. This is one of those moments when it’s nice to have a truth teller around. It’s helpful because suddenly the stakes are very high…That’s supposed to be the face of extremism, but that’s not extreme. It’s rational and calm and well deliberated. Bobby Kennedy himself is not extreme. He is deeply insightful and above all, he is honest. No matter what you think of the substance of what he says.” This coming from a man like Carlson could make some take a serious look at junior.
If Kennedy can appeal to socially conservative union type working class Dems, Trump voters in the 2016 general election, in places like Michigan, Wisconsin, and Iowa he could give Joe Biden real headaches. Then if he can also use the, granted dusty, Kennedy magic with minority voters he could make the Biden South Carolina frontload backfire for the incumbent chief executive and Jim Clyburn.
Something tells me this Dem primary mano y mano is going to get sporty. Kennedy likely won’t win. But he will get a prime time slot at the convention. He pulls an Obama 2004 there and he becomes a serious player in 2028. And the wheel turns…
