Don’t get too giddy about the fact that the GOP-led U.S. House of Representatives actually voted through a bill to repeal the funding of 87,000 IRS agents that the Democrats funded last year in the $740 billion Inflation Reduction Act.
The U.S. House of Representatives, under Republican control, can BLOCK new spending but they can’t get rid of old spending without their bills getting through the Senate and signed by President Biden – and that’s NOT going to happen. At least not in this case.
That’s why it was so appalling that the Republicans signed on to the Omnibus bill back at the end of last year before the Republicans took over the House.

Even if the Republicans controlled the Senate, with RINOS like Mitt Romney and the others, it would be very unlikely that they would even look at the House’s anti-IRS agent bill. And even if they did – and passed it, Biden would never sign it. So it’s just a symbolic bill that no one ever expected to go anywhere in the first place.
14-time loser House Speaker Kevin McCarthy thinks that fake bills are victories and tweeted, “This was our very first act of the new Congress, because government should work for you, not against you. Promises made. Promises kept.”
Big deal, Kevin. Nothing got done. Or in other words, status quo with the Republicans in charge.
