In July 1940, right after the fall of France to the Germans, British Prime Minister Winston Churchill established the SOE. The Special Operations Executive was a secret commando force with a mission to work behind enemy lines in occupied territory to impede the German war effort. It’s job was to “set Europe ablaze.”
The Republican Party is facing a political foe that believes in a one party state, that supports censorship of press and media, and that believes children first and foremost belong to the state. Sound familiar?
With the US Senate occupied by this force and various other elected positions in its thrall, the Republicans have a moral duty to do to them what they’ve been doing to us. That is, play dirty.
Not at the ballot box. Yes, the Dems have likely stuffed enough mail in ballots after the polls long closed to give them false victories in a plethora of races. Nothing will come of it because they own the media. However, if we tried it the investigative reports would never end. Ergo, no.
There is another way to fight fire with fire. The national party organizations should be authorized to intervene in GOP primaries the minute the Dems donate money to a Republican primary candidate.
When that happens, as it did this last cycle when Dems spent $40 million in Republican primaries to back Trump candidates knowing they would lose the general election, the national campaign arms should enter the GOP primary and give even more money to the most promising candidate who has not benefited from Dem campaign cash.
In the 2022 midterms, according to FNC, “All six of the Republican candidates who seemingly benefited from the meddling in their primary victories fell to their Democratic opponents. Those races include a number of key House and gubernatorial races, as well as the New Hampshire Senate race.
Democrats spent more than $40 million boosting those six GOP candidates, all of whom expressed support for former President Donald Trump as a leader of the Republican Party or were backed by him.” A win in the New Hampshire Senate race could have set up a GOP Senate. Now, the Dems keep the Senate no matter what happens in Georgia.
In New Hampshire, Michigan, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Illinois Democrats beat Trump candidates who benefited from Dem support in a Republican primary. We’ve been going into these scenarios unarmed. It’s time we fought back against Dems and their Republican patsies.
There are other ways to win, of making sure less Dems turn out to vote. After over 30 years running political campaigns some of those ways are known to me and to many members of the GOP operations establishment. But most, not me, have been afraid to use them because Republicans tend to be temperamentally conservative. Not in ideology, in personal demeanor.
They are risk adverse, cautious in operational demeanor, and clumsy in subterfuge. There are Republican campaign consultants out there who would prefer to lose gracefully than win dirty. I don’t mean win by using illegal methods. I mean win by stretching ethics as far as they will go without breaking. If that’s playing dirty, so be it.
We can win by using imagination and creativity, by hitting Dems from the left with suburban women and from the hard social right with blacks and Latins. No big issues to do that with? Wrong. Blacks and Latins are profoundly socially conservative. Suburban women? No wedge issue? No problem. Make it up “threat to democracy” style.
We should also fund crazy Marxist Dems in Dem primaries. Why? Because Dems have proven the general strategy works.
We’ve got to match the Dems dirty trick for dirty trick. We’ve got to loosen the conventional shackles that bind GOP campaign operations and create the kind of havoc and confusion behind their lines they successfully created behind our lines in 2022. Time to play harder.
