I’m not one to give Nancy Pelosi a lot of credit. By my view she is the leader of a hard left authoritarian socialist party that props up a mentally ill chief executive.
Her political record is a constant refrain of enhancing the state at the expense of the individual. Her Marie Antoinette-like attitude towards her constituents and the rest of America speaks volumes of her character and ideology.
That’s why it’s puzzling why such a person would break her own mold and visit an island that is at the forefront of resisting an authoritarian regime.
Communist China exemplifies many of the policies that Pelosi would advocate for America. Suppression of free thought, an education system founded on indoctrination, and government control of personal actions and details are par for the course in Beijing and what Pelosi has worked for in America.
Why would she change horses at this late stage of her career? Did she have an epiphany of freedom? Was she visited, Scrooge-like, by the ghost of Ronald Reagan and shown the error of her ways? Or was there a more obviously political calculation involved? Did Pelosi have to distract and pivot from another issue? Was this trip, granted probably planned some time ago, perfectly placed to put Pelosi the paladin of Taiwan in the spotlight?
After all, with all the controversy she could have easily skipped a stop in Taipei. Why go and put an official stamp on our relationship with Free China? Two words: Her husband.
From FNC: “Paul Pelosi, the multimillionaire husband of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, addressed officers with slurred speech, and tried to hand them a police courtesy card during his May arrest on DUI charges, according to court documents. Investigators later determined he had a blood-alcohol content of .082%.
Pelosi’s 2021 Porsche and the other driver’s 2014 Jeep sustained “major collision damage” in a crash around 10:17 p.m. on May 28, and responding officers found Pelosi in his driver’s seat in his damaged car near the intersection of California Route 29 and Oakville Cross Road.
Pelosi allegedly handed officers his driver’s license and an “11-99 Foundation” card when they asked for his ID, according to the documents. The 11-99 Foundation is a California Highway Patrol charity that supports officers and provides scholarships for their children.”
And this beauty from 7/19, “Paul Pelosi, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s husband, made a stock purchase of over $1 million in a computer chip company just weeks before a potential vote in Congress which would give a massive subsidy to the industry.
Mr. Pelosi made a purchase of between $1 million and $5 million shares of Nvidia, a semiconductor company, according to a disclosure filing made by Speaker Pelosi’s office. He exercised 200 call options, or 20,000 shares, the disclosure states. The disclosure raised eyebrows, as Reuters reported that the Senate could vote on a bill that contains billions of dollars in subsidies within the semiconductor industry as early as Tuesday.” And who makes a great amount of the world’s semiconductors? Taiwan.
So, her husband drives really drunk. He gets into an accident and, by later reports, another person is injured. Then he tries to get out of the jam by sucking up to the cops.
Combine that with a blatantly corrupt conflict of interest financial move, the kind of play many have gone to jail for, and the Taiwan trip shifts the recent Pelosi angle from massive irresponsibility and corruption to Nancy Pelosi, brave defender of international liberty in the face of the Chicom dragon.
The reality? With stories like that looming over her head and a likely incoming Republican Congress with investigative and subpoena power, she needed to get out of town pronto to change the media narrative. With a compliant press, it worked. But guess what Nancy? You can run to the four corners of the Earth. But come January, you won’t be able to hide anymore.
