Actions have results. The result of Joe Biden’s inauguration was always going to be at least one Supreme Court pick. Given his desperate promise to Jim Clyburn right before the 2020 South Carolina primary, it was likely to be a left wing Black woman. A spot on the highest court in America filled by a race and gender quota. Pathetic.
Some are hailing that quota as the pinnacle of social justice. But is it justice to Black males who might be just as qualified, but not even considered? Justice for Asians? Latins? Whites? Not in the slightest. In fact it is the most naked bigotry shown by the Supreme Court since the Dred Scott decision.
Here’s what the former head of the CATO Institute, and the upcoming current executive director and senior lecturer at the Georgetown Center for the Constitution, has to say about it. Ilya Shapiro comments, “Objectively best pick for Biden is Sri Srinivasan, who is solid [progressive] and [very] smart,” Shapiro tweeted. “Even has identity politics benefit of being first Asian (Indian) American. But alas doesn’t fit into last intersectionality hierarchy so we’ll get lesser black woman. Thank heaven for small favors?…Because Biden said he’s only consider [sic] black women for SCOTUS, his nominee will always have an asterisk attached. Fitting that the Court takes up affirmative action next term.”
Sean Hannity chimed in, Biden “is being bullied into the decision by the new extreme left. They’re using the Supreme Court pick as another way to flex their power, show their strength. It’s identity politics on steroids…In short, Biden was forced to make this decision…[R]ight off the bat, Biden is excluding all potential candidates who are not African-American women,” Hannity said. “But ask yourself, isn’t this agenda in-and-of itself discriminatory? Imagine we put out a poll. We said, ‘OK, next time I’m on vacation, you get to pick the fill-in for this show.’ And … what two categories only can you choose from? You decide. Would that be fair? Anyway, picking candidates based on race and gender, it’s not only extremely divisive, but likely unconstitutional.”
On the Clyburn deal Hannity opines, “What other deals might be out there?” he asked. “And furthermore, ask yourself if far-left Democrats in the mob and the media are so concerned about racial diversity on the court and so concerned with racial and gender justice, why are they so hell-bent on smearing Clarence Thomas every chance they get?”
Both these individuals have a point. The right to equal opportunity in employment will be violated by the Biden administration before any new justice ever sits on the court. We’re about to see any opposition to this nominee branded as racist and sexist. When, as Biden and Democrats well know, they can find the real racists and sexists by looking in the mirror.
