The severity of the abuse from fellow Democrats being hurled at Joe Manchin shows his type of politics is not favored by many in his own party. Read these comments and ask yourself, is this a happy household?
AOC: Manchin shows an “egregious breach of the trust of the president” and Democrats have “every right to be furious with Joe Manchin.”
“Let’s be clear: Manchin’s excuse is bull—-,” Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., tweeted. “The excuses that he just made, I think, are complete bull—-,” she said. “It is really disheartening to hear him say that he has been trying to get there for the people of West Virginia because that’s a complete lie. … There are just so many things that, you know, the people of West Virginia desperately need, and we know that he is not working on behalf of their interest, and I really am just completely disappointed and disgusted by his reasoning.”
“We’ve been dealing with Mr. Manchin for month after month after month,” Bernie Sanders told CNN. “But if he doesn’t have the courage to do the right thing for the working families of West Virginia and America, let him vote no in front of the whole world.”
“Manchin is a tour de force in gaslighting and dishonesty,” tweeted Rep. Mondaire Jones, D-N.Y. “’ “Joe Manchin’s Christmas gift to the American people? Higher household costs, expensive medications, and climate catastrophe,”
“Wow @Sen_JoeManchin, with all due respect, when you say you’re a no on Build Back Better – is it you?” tweeted Rep. Jamaal Bowman, D-N.Y. “Or is it the special interest [money emoji] that powers you?”
“To be clear, my lack and deficit of trust was about Senator Manchin,” Rep. Ayanna Pressley, D-Mass., told CNN. “He has continued to move the goal post. He has never negotiated in good faith, and he is obstructing the president’s agenda.”
“Joe Manchin pretends to have a problem with the cost of a $1.75T investment over 10 years in the American people, but has no problem with giving $9T to weapons makers and the military,” Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., tweeted. The press was even more vicious and comically Chicken Little.
MSNBC’s Mehdi Hasan tweeted “What’s worse – that Manchin is killing the Biden legislative agenda, and perhaps the future of American democracy too, or that he wasted most of this year dragging this whole thing out to do it *and* wasted half of the time that Dems control Congress and the White House.” The Washington Post’s Jennifer Rubin wrote “If Manchin is no on both BBB and voting, Biden is done. Democracy is hanging by a thread. Hard to think of anyone more destructive.”
The Bible says a House divided against itself cannot stand. We doubt the writer meant the US House, but the shoe fits. Moderate Dems are talking rebellion and Manchin could lead that. Socialist Dems are talking the same thing and Sanders could lead that. Thus leaving establishment big government Dems like Pelosi out to dry. If the above statements are a sign, these mutinies could happen sooner rather than later.
