General Mark Milley Must Resign Or Be Fired

As I write this the Milley story is hitting the nation like a bombshell. In case you’ve been vacationing at the bottom of Challenger Deep, in a new book Bob Woodward reports that US Army General and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Milley went behind the back of then President Donald Trump earlier this year and betrayed him and America to the Chinese Communists.

Even US Army Lt. Colonel Alexander Vindman, an impeachment witness against Trump, had this to say, “If this is true GEN Milley must resign,” Vindman tweeted. “He usurped civilian authority, broke Chain of Command, and violated the sacrosanct principle of civilian control over the military. It’s an extremely dangerous precedent. You can’t simply walk away from that.”

Senator Marco Rubio, Republican of Florida, said this to Joe Biden, “I write with grave concern regarding recent reporting that General Mark Milley, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, worked to actively undermine the sitting Commander in Chief of the United States Armed Forces and contemplated a treasonous leak of classified information to the Chinese Communist Party in advance of a potential armed conflict with the People’s Republic of China (PRC),” Rubio said in a statement Tuesday. “These actions by General Milley demonstrate a clear lack of sound judgement, and I urge you to dismiss him immediately.”

This action by Milley has no precedent in United States history aside from Benedict Arnold. In the Civil War General George McClellan had massive problems with President Abraham Lincoln. He did not conspire with Robert E. Lee because of it. In the Korean War General Douglas MacArthur openly disagreed with President Harry Truman over actions against the Chinese. MacArthur did not pen a love letter to Mao Tse-Tung in a fit of pique.

Not only are military officers supposed to be apolitical, but they are supposed to recognize the primacy of civilian leadership. Not Mark Milley. He usurped the office of both the president and the Secretary of State, thus bypassing the chain of command. You want a real insurrection? It wasn’t a riot of morons on January 6th. It was right here. If Milley doesn’t resign he should immediately be court martialed for, at the very least, insubordination. The US Code, Chapter 115, defines treason as: “Whoever, owing allegiance to the United States, levies war against them or adheres to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort within the United States or elsewhere, is guilty of treason…” Mark Milley fits this bill.

Predictably Democrats and the media are rushing to protect him. The left has done all in their power to hurt Trump and subvert the United States. Hence their defense of Milley. But the news of Milley’s treachery will not sit well with the American people. I have recently advocated that the Constitution be amended to require that presidents should have military service in their background. While I stand by my analysis, on the heels of the Milley story my timing leaves something to be desired.

Milley has been silent as of press time Tuesday night. But spinners all over the left are working for him. Will he admit his culpability and honorably resign? Or will he join the ranks of those who have done anything to damage America, as long as they still injured Donald Trump in the process?
