If you wanted a moment that almost perfectly encapsulates the obvious hypocrisy of the Left as showcased by the worldview of Anthony Fauci, his recent selective condemnation of events is very instructive.
He slammed a traditional American motorcycle run, but said not a word about the maskless Obama birthday party or a trendy music festival. As one critic put it over the weekend, “No comment from St. Fauci on Obama’s soirée last night with a few hundred of his closest friends – or how about Lollapalooza last week in Chicago,” one person said in response to Fauci’s comments critical of the annual South Dakota Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. “Or, I guess it’s SELECTIVE festivities, because the virus knows, and only attacks those who fit the Dems’ narrative.”
What did Fauci say? He told Chuck Todd on Sunday on Meet the Press, “I’m very concerned, Chuck, that we’re going to see another surge related to that rally,” Fauci said about the motorcycle event. “There comes a time when you’re dealing with a public health crisis, that could involve you, your family, and everyone else that something supersedes that need to do exactly what you want to do,” Fauci said.
Another social media maven: “I have come to loathe Fauci. I cannot believe I fell for this fraud for even a minute,” one user said. “Lollapalooza: Nothing. Obama birthday party: Nothing. Riding a motorcycle in the free air: SATAN’S DEVIL VIRUS WILL GET YA!”
And another: “Love how you can catch covid only at certain events. Did it disappear last weekend at the Lollapalooza in Chicago & yesterday at Obama’s birthday party. Why do people still believe anything that comes out of Fauci’s mouth?!”
South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem has put up with liberal bashing of the Sturgis event for years. “The media lied about the event for a year,” Noem told press in May. “They’ve labeled it as a super-spreader. That was not true. We continuously pushed back. And I’m glad that some of those facts are coming to light. It’s all political. We did testing in that community for weeks afterwards.”
And what of the relative merits of the events? Lollapalooza is a gathering of young cretins and aging hippies to listen to new age Bolshevik cacophony. The Obama birthday party?
It is an unfortunate fact that the disgraced 44th president and I share the same age. So you’d think the party would have been a proud libertarian festival, attended by many of the last generation to question the basic premise of leftist ideology. Perhaps some spins from the Animal House soundtrack, a Bay City Rollers tribute band, and recreational inebriants of all sorts? Apparently not.
Reports tell of lumbering 60 year old leftists trying to relive a make believe counterculture youth and doing rather a poor job of it. Lots of Chardonnay, even more arthritis. And this is what Fauci prefers over a South Dakota sky and association with Americans? Of course, as only traditionalist events spread disease, right? Liberal events that worship false icons? Well, clean as a whistle, at least in the world according to Fauci.
