The CEO of Pfizer, Albert Bourla, just announced that individuals who have received the two vaccines against COVID-19 will most likely need a third vaccine somewhere between 6-12 months from there last vaccination.
“We need to see what would be the sequence, and for how often we need to do that, that remains to be seen. A likely scenario is that there will be likely a need for a third dose, somewhere between six and 12 months and then from there, there will be an annual revaccination, but all of that needs to be confirmed. And again, the variants will play a key role.” – Albert Bourla
Currently researchers still don’t know how long the vaccine works once an individual has been fully vaccinated.

Reportedly the Pfizer vaccine is 91 percent effective at preventing the coronavirus and 95 percent effective at preventing a severe infection of the coronavirus. The data was collected from data used on 12,000 individuals who participated in the study.
However there is limited data to know how effective the vaccine is after a six month period. It is believed that vaccinated individuals will need to receive a booster shot to protect them from coronavirus variants according to David Kessler, the Biden Administration’s COVID Response Chief Science Officer.
“We are studying the durability of the antibody response. It seems strong but there is some waning of that and no doubt the variants challenge … they make these vaccines work harder. So I think for planning purposes, planning purposes only, I think we should expect that we may have to boost.” – David Kessler
In the meantime 5,800 people who have been fully vaccinated against COVID 19 have contracted the virus and 74 of those people have died according to a report from the CDC.
